2017 PW hood decal

Post by TrueBlue13PW » Tue Jun 14, 2016 12:05 am

So I was looking on the ram trucks website and ended up drifting over to the 2017 power wagon and noticed the hood decal. Isn't the hood decal supposed to be like the hood on my 1969 mach one and help keep the sun out of your eyes? The picture of it on the ram trucks web site is glossy and reflective which defeats the purpose doesn't it?

Hopefully that's just pre-release material and isn't correct. That would be stupid if they changed it, but then again they seem to be going after better looks over better function lately so I wouldn't put it past them.

I like the flat black decal on my hood. I'm hoping they just made it glossy for pictures so that it caught peoples attention.

Im guessing they are changing up the graphics package to keep it looking "fresh." So if the rest of them are gloss I would expect that to be too. For the general public form over function seems to aoply
If I start listing Mods I would have to change the list daily

A little off topic, maybe, but does anyone have an issue with glare off their hood in the first place? Just wondering. I have been driving for almost 19 years now and have yet to notice any issues with glares off the hood of any vehicle I have driven.

Haha, I was kinda wondering about that. I don't think I've ever been hood blinded, but I only detail my trucks about every two years, so maybe I'm the wrong guy to ask.

I think the idea of the matt black hood is for people who put light bars on the cab of the truck to reduce glare. I also think it's something to give the truck a different look. I know it's never been an issue for me.

I understood it had to do with reducing glare when climbing or descending steep angles where the sun can then be deflected. Under average operation, glare doesn't ever seem to be a issue but I guess you get in a steep enough angle to the sun and it is a issue. The matte looks cool and is very PW specific.

I like AEV's hood applique approach better than the standard Mopar one. AEV's covers more of the hood, rendering it more functional. Looks-wise it's a wash (either way is fine looking) but, AEV wins for functionality!

Yup, every single person that I have talked to (at gas stations & parking lots) with the 50-54" wide roof mounted lightbars say the exact same thing. Wicked bad glare off the hood & if they had it to do-over, they would have mounted it on the bumper. One guy said he was gonna paint his hood flat black & see if that helped. They all said they get great distance but wicked glare with the roof mount led bars.
