TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR
After getting new tires of my truck, you guessed it...the TPMS is angry.
Other than a engine Tuner is there anyway to tell the truck that 40lbs is the new number ?

So far I have just learned to live with the chime at start up and the light always on.
Loving my 3/4 ton version of my old Jeep TJ!!!!!

The dealer installed my leveling kit, wheels and 35" tires on my '14. They have even replaced the sensors once to no prevail. It says inflate tires to 45 psi, yet each tire reads out at 50 psi + or - 1-2 lbs on the screen. I have also learned to live with it. Not sure you can even alter it with an aftermarket programmer, but I'm not sure. On previous years they could change the lower and higher limits. I asked them to set mine at 10 psi and 70 psi so I would never see it again. On the '14 and up, cant do anything about it.....yet.

I just removed my monitors. I get the warning on the screen, then switch it to kmh, and never get a light or anything else. Love it!

Luckely my 07" doesnt have TPMS. But on my old truck I took all my sensors and put them in a pvc pipe sealed on both ends with caps. one of the caps drilling a hole and installing a regular shrader valve stem. (before sealing with sensors in) Then you just fill it up with desired air pressure and set it under your back seat. light gone

Just went in for my first oil change and they changed the tpms on warranty. Didn't have a problem but now they read as I adjust pressure in the driveway. Before it seemed I had to drive it to see them adjust.

Damn! That's a new idea that I've never heard of. The tpms on my 08 sucks too. I have to have 3 different sets of air pressure. 1 for empty. 1 for towing at max load under 70*F & 1 for towing max load over 70*F. My rear tire air pressure has gone from 60 psi to 72 psi when towing 10,500 lbs on a 95*F day from Buffalo to Albany & it set off the alarm. I pulled over & let the air out till they said 65 psi all the way around. Before i got to the Adarondack's it went off again. Back tires were back up to 72 psi. Crazy & a PITA.

I have a 2014 1500 (in addition to my PW) that I put a set of factory 2014 R/T wheels on with OEM sensors. They worked fine for about 500 miles then the service TPMS light came on and the system dropped communication to all 4 wheels. Took it the dealer and they couldn't figure out what was wrong. Told me I had to put the original wheels back on and bring it back. Did I mention the wheels and sensors are OEM Ram?

Sorry to hear that so many are having issues with their TPMS... My sensors appear to be precise within 1 psi, but I'm not sure how accurate they are since I don't have a traceable standard. It''s been almost a year and I haven't had an alarm - maybe I should deflate a tire to make sure the alarm actually works.
I really love my TPMS and check my pressures from the dash every day that I actually use the truck. If you don't like your TPMS system, don't blame Ram, it's a "government mandated" setup.

Actually we can blame ram. The pre 2014 trucks had a low load setting for the tpms (I'm not sure if the PW's had this or not) for 2014 they got rid of that setting for some reason and surprisingly it wasn't the government.Bill2014 wrote:Sorry to hear that so many are having issues with their TPMS... My 2013 PW has the low load button. Are you sure it's not an option? I had a 2010 CTD that had the low load button and I'm pretty sure my current 2012 CTD does not have the low load button. Isn't there a simple tuner for the ram's that allows adjustment for the TPMS settings? I have the cheapest superchips tuner for my jeep that allowed me to change the settings. The AEV procal does as well. Maybe the new AEV procal for the ram will be the ticket.

The procal doesn't have ability yet. They said it would but now they are saying that they might add that capability but they might not. Bullydog was supposed to come out with a tuner for the 14 trucks months ago but still have nothing. Think about this for a moment... If you were making a device that had the ability to alter a federally mandated safety feature on a vehicle, and someone used it to disable the warning, ... fill in the blanks,... and then people died - do you think you as the manufacturer would get sued? Do you think Ram eliminated the ability to change the lower limit because it allowed drivers to skirt the mandated safety feature? The reg. only gives leeway for up to 25% below the vehicle manufacturers recommended cold inflation pressure of the OEM tires.

Label it just like the DPF delete kits for diesels, off road use only, problem solved for tuners. As for ram you probably are right, but if that is the case why even out it on there in the first place? As far as the change in 2014, perhaps an attempt to reduce liability exposure. Without a doubt, lawyer(s) played a role in this...

Tell that to the people who get cancer because of the soot... I'm sure lawyers did play a roll in it, call me mean or cruel, but the only people that would die because their tpms was set too low are the people who shouldn't be driving anyway.
