A member on here just posted a week or so ago that he had to put a 33 under there because the 35 did not fit (it was on a '14 or '15 model). Not sure if removing some shields or other things would allow fitment though...

I posted a while back that a 35" does not fit. 33" does. Mine is a '14 fwiw.

Do you think that it could fit by simply removing the heat shield?

Oddly enough, I have a buddy with an '11 that was able to get a Grabber 35" in underneath, I believe with heat guard in place. Those tires run pretty big/true if I recall. I do know he said it just sucks it right up with no room to spare at all...

Looks like im going to go for

Thuren 2.5 King shocks
Thuren control arms
AEV wheels (supposed to be available soon)
37" Hankook Mt's or Toyo AT2's or Mt's. Not sure how i feel about AT tires as I've always had MT's on my Jeeps
Ball Joints and a steering brace.

Just going to wait on the wheels to get started . Turns out lifting wasnt really a recommendation based on my intentions for the truck.

Didn't ask, I told him my use ( more or a sportsmobile) than a high speed off-road truck and that's what I got from him. A little ways down the road I'd like to put a FWC camper on the truck so I'm sure some Springs will be needed.

Just put the control arms on an 37's on your factory rims until the AEV's are available.

The bigger question is what are you gunna do for more power once you put some big ass meats on your rig?

I have a 2012 and I was able to fit a 35" spare under the bed. There is a large wire harness that is mounted to the inside of the driver side frame rail that got in the way if you can loosen that up so that it will slide out of the way the 35" fits nice and snug against the heat shield.

Well that is good to know. But, with the coil/linked suspension for '14+ I wonder if there is slightly less room down there?

A 35" tire will NOT fit in the factory location on the 14 PW... I had to put mine in the bed... If you get under there and look you will see that the 33" factory tire barely fits... I thought about completely deflating the 35" spare to get it to fit in the factory location on my 14 but figured I don't have my bed loaded down 99% of the time so I didn't want to have to deal with inflating the spare if I needed it... My ultimate plan is to go to 37's anyway so I better get used to a spare in the bed until someone comes out with a rear bumper with tire carrier... For now I went with this:

Does a good job was easy to put in...

I've backed off the 37's and lift. I ordered some Thuren arms and am going with 35's. That will keep me from having to keep my spare in the bed and more importantly won't require a new rear bumper /tire carrier when I put a camper in the bed of the truck. Going to do this incrementally... Instead of the "money cannon" method

A 35 will not fit under a 14/15 even with heat shield gone, it still hits the back side of the receiver hitch and the rear track bar. No receiver hitch would fix the problem but there goes your towing capability!

Hey Taking,

Did you end up doing your mods? I'm very curious how it all turned out. Bonus $ came in for me and its time to finally get the work I've been inclined to get done done which is very close to your thoughts. Would be awesome to get an update and any pics, lessons learned on your experience etc. I see you're a So Cal guy; me too. Maybe I can buy you a beer and you could give me the scoop?

Thanks

Hey Chris, I stopped myself and just ordered thuren control arms. I wanted it all! But really I think what I needed was the ability to run 35's or 37's. As with everything it all about ballance. Too big of a tire costs money for a bumper/tire carrier. And on and on.... Swapping the control arms has improved my trucks ride. The Oem stuff must have been a little worn. I've got 35's cooper st maxx tires on order and should be mounted up next week. I'm going to be running the Mojave road in a couple weeks if you want to come along, there should be a pretty large group of jeeps and trucks.

Glad to hear those arms ride better they got some pretty bad ass joints that would reduce friction and probably give your driveshaft a better angle but also give you more positive caster to reduce death wobble also...

Cool man. Thanks for the reply. I know what you mean about one thing leading to a whole mess of next things. With the control arms, did you do a track bar as well? Anything else you had to get done with those control arms? Who did the install? I too am just looking to get 35's for daily stuff and 37's for the more aggressive trails under the rig and less bottoming out. I think I can achieve one of those with shocks and would rather not go all in just yet (especially if needing to purchase tires and an extra set of rims).

Mojave sounds fun; done it before and its a great trip. When is it exactly?

Hey all. I have been following along for a while now with the registry and i have learned so much about these great rigs.
I had to finally jump in...Feel like the new kid standing around the blacktop trying to get the courage to jump in the
'pick up" games. Anyway, I just did the Mohave road last week! Great time for sure.
I am interested in of some 315's and would like to do control arms only. Any rubbing at full lock?
Will figure out how to get profile and such here soon and I would also like to share some pics from our great mohave road trip.
