Awesome Christmas news from Dave over on the AEV forum.

"We'll have a basic Ram ProCal to be released when the suspensions are released."

This litterally just made my day. Are there different levels for the procal? You said basic, does that mean there is an advanced version as well?

Here's a link to the Procal on AEV's site. I'm assuming it would be the same for the Ram: http://www.aev-conversions.com/shop/pro ... cal-module

ya I think your tires really need to be aired down a lot to not wrap! Leafs actually help a bit...but there not a solution...

Does anyone know if you can use both the procal and an aftermarket tuner?

I know on my jeep, I run both the procal, and a superchips. Hopefully this is the same!

Someone had better talk to them about the Power Wagon features or it won't likely happen. May even need to offer up a truck for them to dissect the Can-Bus data! They are really geared to the diesel trucks and likely won't even pursue any PW stuff unless you beg them.

What is different about the power wagon? The whole purpose is to recalibrate the pcm for different gear ratios, different tire sizes, different tire pressures, etc. None of that has to pertain to the Power Wagon specifically. The only thing that might have to do with it would be if there is a setting that would enable lockers at any speed or enable the sway bar to be disconnected at any speed.

Turn off the smart bar warning or operate both the lockers and smart bar independent of tranfercase mode or road speed. I was under the impression the Rubicon could do some if not all of the above. I was sure it was AEV for the Rubicon but I may be recalling some other device. Either way they can do Can-Bus commands to operate different devices if they know what we want and why.

Note: I know I can test locker solenoids and smartbar engagement solinoid with my AutoEnginuity diagnostic program regardless of transfercase position or road speed. But who wants a laptop turned on and connected at all times just to operate these features? Especially in off road situations.

Here is what it use to do...

ProCal Module Functions:

Tire Size
Gear Ratio
One Touch Lane Change
Daytime Running Lamps
Low Tire Pressure Indicator
Smart Bar Indicator Disable (after Smart Bar removal)
Clear Diagnostic Trouble Codes

While plugged into the OBD port, the ProCal Module can also:

Set a Temporary Extended Idle
Provide a Dead Center Steering Wheel Indication
Clear Diagnostic Trouble Codes / Turn off the Check Engine Lamp

For AEV HEMI Builders Kit customers, the ProCal Module will:

Program the Vehicles VIN into the new PCM Controller
Program the Pedal Calibration and Tolerance

The above can be found here...
http://www.quadratec.com/showcases/aev/suspension/
Just scroll down.

I'm just saying we need to contact them and provide a demo truck for them to dissect along with a wish list of options.

The bully dog for the jeep says it can operate lockers and such but not for the PW. Never looked at this procal but hopefully it will do these.

AEV's procal does nothing for the lockers. There are other programmers that do that. I think myyoung's bypass is still the best bet for that. I really wouldn't count on AEV to program that feature in, as they've been building the procal for the jeep for several years now, and resisted doing it. Their procal is quite handy for some things tho. Specific to the vehicle, not just generic, like disabling the smart bar set up. I have to run this on my rubi, as my smart bar is dead on that. It also does nothing for performance. But I wouldn't be without one on my jeep, and look forward to them releasing it for the ram. Like the jeep, I'm sure it will work for all Rams, from a certain year, regardless of fuel choice.

I work less than three miles from AEV and have offered my truck before (they used it once for some measurements). If they feel the need to use the truck again, both Dave and Kent have my cell phone and email address.

I find it funny PW owners pay a premium for the electronic sway bar disconnect and lockers yet many want to bypass the stuff because of the so so workings about it.

All the advances in technology and KISS method always seems to be the best.

Re: AEV Ram!

Post by 04Ram2500Hemi » Tue Dec 30, 2014 1:07 pm

On AEV's Facebook page they had a picture of the AEV Ram and some product information, but I noticed it was all for stuff newer than my 2012. I ended up asking on the AEV Forum what vehicle years they plan on supporting, so I thought I'd offer up what I saw on Facebook and got back from Dave. Basically what I'm reading into this is to just be patient.

AEV Facebook:
"The initial launch of the AEV Ram product line will focus primarily on the Ram 2500/3500 and include our Premium Front Bumper (2013.5+ Gas/Diesel), Raised Air Intake System (2013+ Diesel w/ Active Air), 17x8.5 Katla Wheel and 3" DualSport Suspension System (2014+ Diesel). More detailed product information, options, images and pricing will be released as these products become available."

Dave at AEV's response to these questions:
See if this helps:
We're releasing the stuff by specific year and engine as we test it and verify no additional parts are needed.

For instance, on the bumper, since we've already tested the 13.5+ CTD we'll release it first, we may even get to test it on the 10-13.5 CTD before the initial launch so it may say 2010-2015 CTD before launch. I know on the 13.5+ HEMI, we are waiting for a bracket, so that may be verified and launched a week or two after...not sure yet. Powerwagon is the same, until we can verify everything works it won't get opened up for those applications.
The point is there are a gazzilion versions of the Ram truck out there and we are trying to verify most if not all applications before we state they'll work.

Same for Raised Air Intake. Wheels don't really fall into the same catagory but we may even open those up back to the old BR once we get to test fit. Suspensions are pretty similar, but since we haven't been able to get our hands on a air assist 2500 or 3500 yet, we won't open it up until tested.

Just an update for those who care I stopped by AEV today and they pulled my truck into the garage to check if the Raised Air Intake would work for older models like my 2012, and it will work for sure. There are some other cool things coming from AEV in the future, but I feel it best if AEV releases those details when they feel necessary.

The snorkel will be ready by the end of January (they are finishing the adapter for the Hemi right now). In fact, I think all products should be available to order by the end of January. It's the details on future products they haven't released to the public that is pretty exciting. I have a hunch that if a product is available for the Jeep, something similar will be made for the Ram down the road.

So they are making 2 different adapters? As in one for the 6.4 and one for the 5.7?

The 6.4L is done, and Dave saw no reason after looking at my truck to why the 5.7L wouldn't work either. They just don't have the adapter ready for folks to order until the end of January. Dave and I spent about 20 minutes together in the AEV shop last night, and he looked under the hood and under my truck at a few things.

I'm sure it would work with the correct adapter, the big difference is the way the throttle body faces, that's where the different adapters come into play.

I don't know enough about that to give you an educated answer. Dave simply poked his head into my engine bay for a few minutes and said no problem.
