Diablo tune's feed back (3rd gen, 6 speed)

Post by 08TwinStickPW » Wed Nov 27, 2013 1:07 pm

Hi all,

Figured I would post my experience with the different tunes and how my 6 speed PW responds to them.

Baseline (No tuner) to me the truck is a dog, does not want to rev (well takes allot to get it to rev it seems) and not very responsive.

87 Tune (current tune) - Have the throttle booster half way up, and as far as I am concerned this is how the truck should respond from the factory, pulls good all the way to 6K, way better throttle response, decent (noticeable) bump in power.

93 Tune (ran all summer) - Same throttle booster setting/response, bit more pull through the powerband (feels stronger up top), however, not enough of a difference in daily driving to warrant 93 fuel.

MPG - really not noticeable between 87 tune and 93 tune to warrant paying for 93, however, both offer a small bump over stock.

Overall I am happy with the 87 tune for the driving I do (mostly around town, rare highway trips, no towing), I did have the superchips on the PW before the Diablo and with the truck being a 6 speed I like the Diablo better (Superchips is better to me for Auto's, I really liked the tran's tuning on my 04' 1500 hemi).

That's some good feedback and about the same as I felt when I ran the canned tunes. If you want to get a little more out of it, you can always get someone to get you a custom tune. My current tuner is doing an excellent job of getting my truck and cam nailed down!!

I'm still using my Diablo for the physical tuner, and David Amalong (whitelightening on other forums) is currently writing my tunes for me. Awesome guy to deal with if you need a custom tune.

Yeah I had the superchips and to be honest felt no different then stock with my six speed! Throttle response was pretty much the same as stock and imagine was doing more engine wear vs stock with it, so took it off. Has anybody done and oil analysis vs stock with the diablo tuner? Anyways definately got my attention since
