72 000km Blown 66RFE sooo....g56 hemi swap?

If it's about Power Wagons, all generations, this is where it'll go. This is the original PWR Forum Power Wagon Technical Discussion Section. And this includes everything that doesn’t fit in any one of the other categories related to the truck goes here!

72 000km Blown 66RFE sooo....g56 hemi swap?

Post by Mylesfromtown » Wed Sep 18, 2024 12:48 pm

Love my truck hate my transmission. Lol
Sorry for spelling. Semi deslexic.
I have a 2017 72000km bought new and the transmission threw a few Codes somthing about 5th and 6th gear being missaligned lol.

So options i have considered are
1 replace with factory stock. And have same thing happen in another 72000km.
2 Rebuild and upgrade my trans, ats has a built 66fre but i woukd need a stage five according to the horse power charts and my truck is stock with 35" tires.
3 Pull the garbage 66rfe out and put in a allison or asien
4 or go all the way and do the g56 manual swap.

Anyone do any 6.4 hemi truck to G56 swap to a 6 spd Manual yet?
I believe old Power Wagons pre 2014 had a manual with a 5.7 hemi. But was it a 6spd ?

Assuming there is a bell housing out there, i want my truck to look 100% stock when done. Thats why im not willing to do it myself.

I know mexico today in 2024 offers a 5.7 hemi with a 5 spd 2wd. In the 4000 chasis cab.
I also thought In 2017 when i ordered from factory and played with build and price for weeks before hand.
i thought i could order a chasis cab with 6.4 6spd manual and 4x4.

I have no idea what im doing when it comes to new stuff and getting my good friend who runns a custom car shop in the town i live do the work.

Just seeing whats possible.

Whats been done.

Parts, kits, and costs.

Thanks.

The last manual transmission for the PW was 2008 in the 3rd Gen. A lot has changed since then. Bell housing, clutch linkage, ecu just to name a few things that you would need. It would be better to get your auto rebuilt.

Been awhile since I posted as it was not letting me post for a long time. Lets see how it goes. Yes, thats a 60K CVT reliable transmission sadly. 2019 saw the introduction of a real transmission finally. You can rebuild the clunker with better parts that should last. Not a good transmission, but it should last.
2018 Flame Red, Moon Roof, Dual Alternators, Ram Boxes sadly Ram ran out of, Luxo Package with 8.4 UConnect, Enter and Go with remote start, Auto Wipers and Lights. Added missing skids and White Knuckle sliders. 35" BFG KM3s. Procal and Warn wireless remote for winch.

Interesting I had to do some weird stuff to get away from the errors, select full editor. Now it works regular after? Wow crazy
