Re: Let's talk bumpers
So stumbled across these guys just by accident. OCF fabrication, just a small shop out in California...was actually talking to the owner on Facebook last night, really nice guy. Said his bumpers will not require relocating the winch and run about $1600-$1800 unpainted. ...which is a hell of a deal compared to similar styles. Bumper thickness is 3/16".

Really? Looks nice , similar to the Theuren concept, but for about $6-800 cheaper, & no winch relocate, color me intrigued & interested...

Yea I'd be interested to actually talk to a power wagon owner that owns one and see if that's really the case

I am sure it's just me, but the company letters cutout is a HUGE fail for me. A delete option would be GREAT for that. Or, to have your own initials in a plain font would be cool.

Re: Let's talk bumpers
Yeah, I'm not big on the logo either, but overall it's pretty sweet. Although, the shot of the back shows a tray for the winch. Is that deleted for a PW? Does the roller fairlead assembly meet the bumper or protrude just a bit to properly guide the rope?

Re: Let's talk bumpers
I'm just gonna have to say it-
IDK about y'all but, I am really frustrated by (IMHO) the one key problem with any and all the bumpers out there that might fit our trucks- they all stick out nearly 6" further than they have to!!!!!! I know that's due to them being only slightly tweaked version of diesel bumpers but some manufacturer needs to break the cycle and introduce one that's tucked in nicely and sticks out no farther than stock, or preferably LESS than stock!!! (I've no desire to have a freakin cow catcher on the front of my truck!)
No offense meant to those on here that have aftermarket bumpers from all the various and sundry manufacturers, every truck I've seen on here looks great!!!! It's just that I've got a preference for minimal bumper protuberance since even without a bumper altogether, I have still managed to get into tight enough spots where I've rubbed the plastic underneath the headlights on a tree!

Mercenary off road does not stick out, you actually knock the corner off the frame rails and the body mounts to get it onRAM4ROKS wrote:I'm just gonna have to say it-

Re: Let's talk bumpers
I thought that at first- Though you are correct that it is tucked nicely under in the exact area I gave as an example, the Mercenary Offroad bumper does stick out nearly 6" in the center section. (which ruins it in my eye) It's tough to see from most angles of pics I've seen but, it does. (believe me, I was seriously considering laying down the coin before I noticed it!!!) I'd wager the need to modify the frame rails and body mounts is more due to how aggressively it angles inward, allowing for greater approach angle despite sticking out further than stock in the center. Look closely at this pic from their site and you'll see what I mean when I say the center sticks out:BlkWgn wrote:Mercenary off road does not stick out, you actually knock the corner off the frame rails and the body mounts to get it onRAM4ROKS wrote:I'm just gonna have to say it-

They come the closest of any to what I want but, that center section is still much farther out than I would like. (further out than I can tolerate- it would bug me!) I'd wager the reason for the center section sticking out as far as it does is to allow a winch to be mounted in front of a diesel's intercooler. So, another bumper that if they made a version that wasn't tailored toward the diesel crowd, it could be AWESOME!!!! But, instead, we're forced to make due with one that wasn't designed with out rigs primarily in mind.
Re: Let's talk bumpers
Measuring my old stock bumper it is approximately 4 1/4 inches, the prototype Power Wagon version of the Mercenary bumper on my truck is approximately 5 3/4 or about an inch and a half. So it does stick out a touch farther at the top of the center sectionRAM4ROKS wrote:I thought that at first- Though you are correct that it is tucked nicely under in the exact area I gave as an example, the Mercenary Offroad bumper does stick out nearly 6" in the center section. Re: Let's talk bumpers
Relocating the winch is a total and impassable roadblock for me. I will not even consider relocating or modifying my winch to fit a BS bumper ever! I'm beginning to love the look of the factory front bumper and will likely spend my hard earned money in other ways. In reality the rear bumper on a 3G is the limiting factor for departure angle. I should divert my attention to that IMHO.

I agree 100%, when I tagged the deer and messed up the factory bumper I searched everywhere and ended up getting another freaking factory bumper brand new for $400 for now. All we really need is a "no winch" bumper with a slot for a hawse fair lead. I dont like them sticking way out there and it's pointless to me to buy a winch bumper when I have a mounted winch that's not tied to the bumper to begin with. And the very few that I do like and would settle for are high as giraffe pussy.

Re: Let's talk bumpers
Thank you for the measurements!!! I love the looks of the Mercenary bumper overall BUT, I am looking for a protrusion past the grille of maybe 2" at most. I want a bumper as tucked up as it can be and still be the first thing to hit something on the front. (if it ever does, hopefully it never will!!!)BlkWgn wrote: Measuring my old stock bumper it is approximately 4 1/4 inches, the prototype Power Wagon version of the Mercenary bumper on my truck is approximately 5 3/4 or about an inch and a half. So it does stick out a touch farther at the top of the center section
Let's talk bumpers
Another vote for OCF Welding. I'm continually amazed by their craftsmanship.
