Beer, food, a spotter, and know when to turn around. That should get you pretty far

Expect moderate temps, probably 70's in the day. Being it is May the highs could go up to 100. Night time could be down to the 40's or a touch lower. I think all of those temps equate to shorts and flip flops for you Canadians.

Yep kinda jealous. It's -30 something now wind chill and wind is at 60-70kph with gusts to 90 right now as I type this. But don't worry I'm sure it will be nicer by May here too. One day I will make Moab. And I will bring as much Canadian beer as the border will let me. To show my appreciation to you guys for letting me come down. With 2 trucks and a trailer. Cause you never know...
Edit; shorts start at 30°f

If you Moabers listen really carefully you might hear my cries of jealousy. Wish I was still living in Utah so I could go with.

We found the Mojave Road book quite handy. Ill see if I can find it..I can mail it to you if you would like! Its breakes down the path quite nicely with some interesting side info.
I would imagine that with the rain we have had this year it could be amazing. I would also guess that the "dry lake bed is not so dry" This is surrounding the big rock pile monument that it frequently photographed. You may have to bypass this part. Maybe someone has current intel.
How many days will you be on the trail?
The road was actually on my Uconnect map labeled "Government rd".
You are going to burn fuel the last 11 or something miles because its in the sand wash.
Other stuff: Beer, chair and some cans of chili and hot dogs and you are golden.

That's in CA. Moab is in Utah. :poke:

If camping, tent and sleeping bag, don't forget your pillow. We were in shorts mostly last year. Early may is when it starts to get warm. By the end of May it starts to get hot. I left May 28th after spending 5 1/2 weeks in Moab last year because it started to get HOT. When we visited Moab in August it was in the 100's. Although it's a dry heat, so it's not as terrible as some place with humidity.

Pack your camera, bring some hiking shoes. Make sure you bring some cash with you. You have to pay entrance fees at a couple of places.

Yea, lol. I've actually been on the Mojave, but not with the Power Wagon. Just the Blue Whale, before we upgraded.

A Power Wagons in Mojave would be kind of equally as cool. forum member @aearles recently did the road with his Power Wagon and another group.

Ok, thread hijack over.

Here's a old pick of me with my previous truck (a Ford I know) on the Mojave Road and instead of snow that's all salt on a dry lake bed, the California version of winter!

This is the book to have.

It's basically the guide we're using for all the trails we will be doing.

Im such a dork! Just tired and around here its almost always mojave. Sorry.
And nts007 thats a bunch of snow!
My friends who live in Grand Junction have had me look through that Moab book and they swear by it.
How about going from one to the other?! Now that would be something.

Just find a route from Mojave that connects to the Utah Traverse and is off-high.

The Traverse is a really great overland experience.

Mike, that map is the route we want to mate in April. We haven't plotted it yet, but I might just steal most of that route lol

Yeah, I did Mojave with a group from Expedition Portal on new years. We crossed the "dry lake" after several days of rain, it was a swamp but soo much fun!

Some photos here: https://goo.gl/photos/qjxwaoib1jszJkv78

and the water crossing (I'm #4): https://youtu.be/wKdbmgux5Wc

None of my photos are on there, so not too many shots of the truck, I'll have to get them off my phone.

As far as Moab gear, I live in an RV so I carry most of my shit with me in the truck at all times, but I am pretty excited that I just came across a Walmart that had their Ozark Trail YETI cooler knock-offs in stock, I've been looking for one for a long time. 52Qt rotomolded cooler for $147! I thought I was lucky to snag one, but of course now they're in stock online too, so maybe production is just catching up. Oh well.
