Quick note about tire widths, as the Toyo's aren't 14.6" wide when mounted on a 8.5" width rim. A tire is given a specific width based on the rim width that it is mounted on. For each 0.5" change in rim width (throughout the approved range), the tire width will change about 0.2".

The Toyo spec says:
37X13.50R17LT
8.5" - 11.0" rim width range.
37" x 14.6" when mounted on an 11" width rim.
If that tire is mounted on a 17" x 8.5" rim, then the width would be about 13.6".

The Cooper spec says:
37X12.50R17LT
8.5" - 11.0" rim width range.
37" x 13.1" when mounted on a 10" width rim.
If that tire is mounted on a 17" x 8.5" rim, then the width would be about 12.5".

Thanks for clearing that up  Toyo's will still be a wide-ass tire to use. Think I'm going to personally go with the Cooper STT's. If I had a Cummins and towed above 10K frequently I'd opt for the Toyo's.

Have you looked at the Pitbull Rockers? I have had them on for a while now and I really like them and so far there wearing well and not as rough as I thought. Amazing in rocks and mud take a look at them before you buy the Coopers.

I actually did look at the PB Rocker Radials also. It was one of the first tires I started researching online. I did have a very difficult time actually finding their tires available anywhere though, especially in 37's. Also, I couldn't find much to go on about their on road performance. I thought I remembered reading somewhere about concerns with their road manners, especially after some wear. I was able to find some 35/12.50/17's online, but they were even more $$$ than all the 37's I've looked at. :jawdrop: I can't imagine what they want for 37's!

i was in this same position. Im not impressed with bfg myself. Personally i had a set of 35“ mt in the old tread patern that pulled ok but when the tires had about 4k miles on them i got a cut in the sidewall about 3“ long. This happend on a rock in a red clay trail that i had been running for years with no issue before. After i changed the tire i inspected the cut and i was disapointed in the sidewall thickness and rigidness. It felt like a street tire, just with a mt tread on it. But like i said that was old style mt. Personaly the new bfg mt tread looks close together so if the old patern was just “ok“, i dont think the new one would be as good.
In the close future ill be putting 6“ on my pw with 37“ toyo mts. I was worried to about the width of them to untill i saw the white pw on the carli website running them. They look great, have good reviews off road and i can expect 30k plus miles. Ill take the stiffness over weak sidewalls.

Thanks for the pics and keep us updated on your impression of them. The Toyo Open Country AT-2 LT285/75R17 will most likely be my next tire selection, probably next spring, so I will be watching for any experiences you have with them.

Tread is deeper on the "Xtreme" and voids are larger.

Going out now to some steep/rocky/cruddy stuff and give them a try.

Well, I like'em. Didn't spin a tire, didn't need to lock, mud cleaned out xtreeemly well (didn't find liquid clay to try).
Better than I expected, actually.

Thank goodness I scrubbed off the tire shine that the Discount Tire guys sprayed on. Even worse than chrome...

Awesome thanks. I actually picked up a set already. 315s! Love them. Probably need set of Thuren or Carli control arms. I don't like that rubbing. Put them to test recently. Maiden trip to Nevada couple weeks ago. Next day after install. No issues to report even miliage was decent rolled in back home with almost 1400 miles on meter and 14 mpg. Adjusted 5% for tire size it's pretty decent 14.7 average including at least 200 miles off pavement.

As you can see, I am running these on H2 wheels I picked up for a good price a few years ago. The offset is just enough that I do not rub anything, even while flexing.

I was thinking of those but considering price of wheels plus some labor to re-bore them. May not be that much less than getting set of $700 control arms. Later might give some other advantages of better flex and maybe fitting low clearance type snow chains. Not sure on later though.
On big difference from Toyo ATs I've had before was ride on gravel. Toyo's were really harsh, even aired down. Duratracks ride like a Cadillac. Much more mushy on the hwy though.
