Oooo, I like it. I'm still on my Trail Grapplers and probably only down to about halfway on tread life, but these may take my money the next time its time for tires. Good job yet again Nitto!

One thing I am liking about the Ridge Grappler is that they are releasing two versions of the 285/75R17. One will be a Load E (80 PSI Max) 121Q and the other will be a Load C (50 PSI Max) 117Q. As the owner of a Ram 1500, a 50 PSI tire with a 117Q (2835 lbs.) rating sounds like a great option.

If the lower load version doesn't still weight 70 damn pounds each, I might be interested when it comes time to replace the 285/70R17 Duratracs.

Are the Nittos in that size a little bit large like the Toyos are? Or are they more true to size? I would like 37-12.5R17 Toyos but they run about 13.2" wide and are very heavy.

According to their website, they measure 36.77x12.52. They do not list the tire weights for some reason.

Doesn't look like they have the three peaked mountain symbol. Too bad, think Duratracs, the AWT and the BFG KOs are the only ones with it...

As far as I have found, our options for a "mountain snowflake" mud/all terrain (studded) tire are Duratracs, Toyo Open Country C/T, and Nitto Exo Grapplers. My stock 33's are going to get replaced with one of those before next winter.

Edit to add: my search has been limited to stud-able tires. There may be other mtn-flake options out there that can't take studs

Thanks! I LOVE my 285/75R17 Toyo MT's, they feel like superglue on everything and ride very smooth when aired down. I will go with a bigger tire next time since I only tow a light trailer, and that is fairly rare anyways. I would like to stick with Toyos but due to the weight (and price) I have to consider the Yokohama AT/2. They weigh WAY less! And the majority of that weight is right where the tire gains the most inertia, in the tread. I think the Yokohamas wouldn't murder mpg or throttle response nearly as bad. I also never considered Nitto knowing that the better brother, Toyo, was around. I'll have to check them out.

How many miles do you have on those Toyos? Lookin at gettin those same tires maybe next spring. They been holdin up well for ya? Did you see a big change in mileage and speedo bein off? I wanna go to a 285-75 when I get new tires. Been kinda thinkin bout 35-12.50 too...

I have 3-4000 or so on the new set but I had the same exact ones on before. They got about 20,000 miles before they had about 1/4" of tread left. The new ones still look brand new. They have been holding up great. The last set still did amazing off-road with almost no tread, these things stick like GLUE. I went up an incline of silt covered hard pack before I replaced them. I didn't expect it to make it with even brand new tires, it was very steep, but it went up without slipping a tire. I bought the truck with the last set on so I don't know about speedo and mileage. My EVIC mileage readout does tell me the same exact amount that I calculate by hand now though, which C is nice. I really like the size, no rubbing. They are the loudest thing about this truck, but still very tame. I'm not bugged at all by them on road trips. I bought these over 35's due to them being a lot cheaper, but if I did it again I would do 35's. It may have been because 35's also come in load range D? I don't remember, but I only run range E. These tires chunk somewhat easily in rocks, but it's not bad.

I did kill one off-road on the Mojave trail, but I don't know of any tire that would have lived - I hit a pointed rock that was hidden by sand at 40mph and it was hard enough that it bent my wheel in.

Beefy sidewalls. They have a really good status, I know Thuren and the other go-fast guys love them.

I know gun45boat much prefers the Goodyear MT/R Kevlar over the Toyos when he is in really rocky stuff.

I will say one thing - the bigger sizes last unproportionally longer. An acquaintance had the 37's on his cummins work truck, and got over 30,000 miles out of one set before he sold them to someone else who started running them.

I have Toyo RT's on my 16 PW in 35x12.50R17 on OEM rims. No issues, no rubbing, mileage guarantee comes with them (45k). Awesome on snow and ice (I had them sipped), quite with good on road manners. E rated, max PSI is 65 so it matches OEM tires and doesn't mess with the TPMS. I have 0 complaints.

I run 50 PSI front and 45 PSI rear when not towing that I set at around 50F ambient temp. After experimenting it's the best average of grip and feel and MPG. I DID lose an MPG or 2, I think, but I didn't buy the truck for MPG.

I did lose that bouncy mushy feel of the D's at max PSI and the E's feel a lot more grounded and solid. You have to run lower PSI to keep then from the bone jarring feeling unloaded but you can air up to tow. I find that perfect. I tried to tow my 8500lb wet trailer and those D's about killed me when I tried to pass a semi truck.

I had Toyo MT's on my Duramax and I wouldn't do it again on a Daily Driver. I regret that decision. RT's are much better if you DD. The RT is an aggressive AT tire. Carcass construction is the same as the MT. Center of the tread is ATII type tread and edge is MT type tread. So the more you air up the more mildew AT type tread you get and the more you air down it kind of turns into a MT.

I've run Toyo MT, RT, AT, BFG KO, Cooper ST MAXX, probably some others I don't remember, and this is the best tire I've owned. Second was the Cooper but they were too soft and my Duramax tore through them in 35k.

I have Grapplers in 37 - 12.50-17 on mine, stock rims, I have some pics in the picture thread. They measure just about 36" on the truck with 50 lbs in them, I have been playing with pressure a little now, have 45 in rears. They didnt rub anywhere except full lock a slight bit on Radius arm stock front, I put Thuren level kit on front now.

I'm going back to the Yoko AT/s when these Hankooks wear out. I loved the Yokos and they rode as smooth as a loaded down Cadillac, pulled like a seasoned mule, quiet as a house mouse, balanced as a mountain goat, goes across sand like a road runner, great at high speed, and I put 54K miles on them and "thought" I wanted something different. This tire shocked me in more ways than one, no they don't look that great but man they were some damn good tires. I actually was able to go more places with them in soft stuff than these Hankooks. I've almost sunk him to the frame a few times on the Hankooks. They dig too good for a heavy truck, two revolutions and you drop to the pumpkin. With lockers and a winch and the AT/s, there's no place I wont go, they grab plenty good to keep moving but wont dig you down like a tractor tire in reverse.

Dang Will, that's good to know! That really seats my thoughts then. I would love to go with bigger tires but I don't want to kill my mileage and torque to the ground. What kind of mileage were you getting with the Yokos?

I don't know if I did the math, but I remember the weight difference between the 37" Yoko and the 35" Toyo MT was so much that I believe the Yoko would turn easier than the Toyo. Those Toyo MT's must have a few bricks glued to the inside man, they are heavy.

Yes, the Yoko 37 is as light as many 35's. Good on gas, brake and acceleration. The way the Hankooks MTs are wearing, I suspect they'll be slick as a peeled onion with 40k miles. Could have squeezed 60+ out of the Yoko's.
Got 13.6-13.9 average with the Yoko's, getting 12.1-12.4 with Kooks.

37x12.5x17 Toyo RT. They hum a little but that's so you know they're working. Great road manners and ride, they dig and clean pretty well considering they aren't a true MT. I have about 6K miles on them and they just wore past the first 1/16" step, at this rate I'll get tired of them and buy something different before they wear out. I wish I would have bought 37X13.5 instead because I like the way they look. I had Yoko Geo AT's on my Suburban and hated them; loud, hard, poor snow and slush performance. The Yoko's went about 50k miles but were absolutely beat (I didn't want to replace them since I was going to sell the vehicle). I would have taken them off 20K miles prior if I wasn't committed to getting rid of the 'burban.

Which wheels are you using and do you know the offset?

I'd like a little more clearance that the 37s would give. Also a different tire from stock. Considering the RTs and Ridge Grapplers but would buy wheels too. Seems like AEV 8.5" wide wheels are ideal with their offset.
