Is there a remedy or a fix? I love my setup but for the cost I don't expect that.Black Pearl wrote:I think what your hearing are the Kings.

Yes. I will ship you a kit to fix it. Included in the kit is a box and a return address. Just toss those Kings in and send them my way, I know exactly what to do. I'll put my current Bilsteins in there for you.

In all seriousness, if you have bypass shocks and you are hearing them click, that's the nature of the beast. Drive faster, turn the adjusters in more, wrap them in Dynamat (just kidding). You can't fix the bypass sound, on any bypass shock. Fox, Sway-A-Way, etc. are all the same. It's the nature of the beast.

That's good info! I didn't know that about them. I'm new to this stuff and relied heavily on Don and you guys here. At least I know and can quit hunting for something not there. Really appreciate the info.DamageWagon wrote:stubiePW wrote:Is there a remedy or a fix? I love my setup but for the cost I don't expect that.Black Pearl wrote:I think what your hearing are the Kings.

Yeah this is so long as you have bypass shocks. Meaning there are tubes on the outside of the shock, welded onto it labeled "compression" and "rebound". These give you a huge increase in performance and basically have a bump stop built in. You can very easily tune the majority of your shock travel with these with just an Allen key and wrench. The trade off is that as the piston passes each bypass zone, which ends where the nut/set screw is, that bypass zone becomes "dead" or inactive. Hen this happens, oil stops flowing through it and a small spring inside closes a ball bearing against a seat. You are hearing the impact of he ball bearing and the transition of the oil from flowing almost solely through this tube, to now only flowing through the valving of the piston. You will feel an increase in shock force at the same time.

Wagoner was not there this time.
The place is nutty.
And I need some help on the picture thing. Sorry
Re: Power Wagon Picture Thread
Yes, I went with boogies all around. I went stage 3 in the front and stage 2 in the rear, per Don. He actually wanted 2 front 1 rear but I was worried they'd be too soft

Nice! By the way I might have a better answers your clicking noise. I was talking with an Engineer at King ester day and found out that they have a few options available for the internals of the bypass adjusters. There is a Nylon valve you can use that was made because it is quieter than the normal material. I would ask Don if he specs the Nylon valve or the standard valve. If he uses the standard one, see about swapping the valve out. Should be pretty cheap.

Flyingjeff,
I love the pictures of your truck framed by spacious sky, amber waves of grain and purple mountain majesty.
And you have a red, white and blue license plate to top it all off!

Re: Power Wagon Picture Thread
I took the 25-mile off road trek to Knik Glacier today. 25 miles of frozen river channels and mud holes, tight Jeep trails, and woop'ed gravel bars. My wagon is now thoroughly pinstriped. I played trail leapfrog with a group of fat tire mountain bikers all day and they were shocked to see a full size truck that far from the trailhead. I saw a couple of jeepers on my way out and they also looked a little surprised.

Thanks for the comments. Was out exploring my back yard for the first time in the new truck. The second picture is actually an ancient volcano. This was the smaller of the two. Had to get a few of the truck while it was still kinda clean.Retired BLM Rig wrote:Flyingjeff,

Re: Power Wagon Picture Thread
Found this out in Johnson Valley. Was a red 3rd gen 2wd Cummins. I can already see the craigslist ad... "Minor paint fading. Engine overheated once. It's a cummins, will run forever. $45,000 obo"

that pile of aluminum was the transmission. The leaf springs totally annealed and sacked out in the heat. Probably just needs some coolant and a push start

Re: Power Wagon Picture Thread
That's what I said haha. Rear axle shafts removed. Molten glass on the seat frames that looked too far to be from the windows. VIN number heavily damaged in the center. 6" exhaust tip. Red. Definitely insurance.
