Ticking on startup
Ticking on startup
Hey....so my 2013 PW with about 52K miles has been making a ticking noise for about 20-30 seconds on startup the past month. Valve slap?? It goes away after a short period. Anything I should be doing on this? My last Ram 1500 that also had the 5.7 had about 115K miles on it and never made this noise.
Thanks

Re: Ticking on startup
Is it just the normal "Hemi Tick" or worse? Might be a bad drain back flapper in the oil filter.

Change the oil. Mine had a tick when the dealer was changing the oil, now I do it myself with Mobile and a Mopar filter and it's quiet as can be.

I only do what the majority of the 4 voices in my head tell me to. In most cases, I ignore two of them because one doesn't speak English, and I suspect the other is talking to someone else.

Re: Ticking on startup
Thanks for the replies.....The ticking is RPM related and goes away completely after 20 seconds or so.
I will try replacing the oil filter....but would that be RPM related?

I've heard several cases of the exhaust manifold stud breaking... Rusted out from dripping moisture off the condenser if I'm not mistaken. Has anyone figured out or heard of a way to prevent it? I've considered trying anti-seize on the stud but it probably won't last long.
