I love, love, love, my music. Only thing I am not into yet is opera & HEAVY, HEAVY METAL. I like most all other music, from rap to clasical. Finally got sick & f-ing tired of crappy sounding music in my garage. Seeing as I am retired now, I expect to spend a lot more time out there. Might as well be jammin. I bought a pair of Klipsch Heresy speakers back in 1982 while I was in the US Army, in Germany. They are still rocking the house. So, I saved more than these 2 items cost. I also love my music, just about everything except rap/hip-hop. Years ago, everybody thought that speakers were the weak link in sound reproduction and they tried just about everything in speaker design, until digital came along. The old "state of the art" speakers have changed very little in the last 50 years and are still the go to speakers for audiophiles today. I rock my house with my 28 year old KEF speakers coupled with a Velodyne subwoofer powered by a Pioneer receiver and a Teac CD player.

I've got a cheap (like $20) set of computer speakers in the garage... Sounds okay, good enough for a garage at the volumes I can listen to music at before neighbors start complaining.

Voided the warranty on day 1 of speaker ownership... split both sides open, wired in a bluetooth music receiver ($20-ish on amazon) and power supply for that receiver. Turned ~$50 worth of speakers into a $100+ "bluetooth speaker". (Did this long before those bluetooth speakers were a popular/cheap/available thing).

Speakers are paired to phone, phone streams pandora/whatever over wifi.

Pulling Cat5E from my hallway closet, into the crawlspace, through the foundation, into the neighbor's crawlspace, across the neighbor's crawlspace, through another foundation, up the wall of my garage closet, across the ceiling of my garage closet, and into the top corner of my garage was definitely one of the better investments i've made in this house - now I get great wifi in the house *AND* in the garage.

That is soooo cool. Way beyond my abilities. When people ask me about speakers, I always tell them: one word is all you need to know----KLIPSCH !! That is what is in most movie theaters as well. The old school ones (Heresy, Cornwall, La Scalla, & the Klipsckhorn are still made by hand in Hope Arkansas. I paid $700 a pair for my Heresey's & now they are $1000 each !!! I also had a pair of La Scalla's (donated them to the my local high school) I paid $1200 a pair, now they are $3000 each !! Wish i would have kept them, but they were SO LOUD, i knew i would get busted by the cops numerous times, cause I love my music LOUD & CLEAR !!!

These will go over 2x louder on the same power !!! 95 dB sensitivity vs the 90 dB of the ones I got at 50% off. Volume doubles for every 3 dB increase. A lot of people do not know that but audiophiles do. If you have a MONSTER amp, the dB's don't matter as much, but when running low power or a cheap ass stereo like I bought, it becomes a BIG factor. When I was in the Army, many people had stereo systems that were WAYYYYY more expensive than the $10,000 system I had, but mine would go louder & be perfectly clear. I had to since get rid of it, it started failing, one component at a time. I had a Techniques SE-A3MK2 power amp ($2500.00 then, $8000 now ), SEA pre-amp ($300), Kenwood cassette player ($300), TEAC cassette player ($500), TEAC X-1000R reel to reel ($1500), DUAL 741Q turntable ($500), Techniques SL 1200MK turntable ($500), 1 pair of Klipsch Heresey's ($700), 1 pair of Klipsch La Scalla's ($1200 then, $4000 each now ), $2000 worth of reel to reel tapes , cassette tapes, $$thousands$$ in albums, headphones, cleaners, demagnatizers, etc...., I also had a wicked good 6 channel mixer, it was very compact, rack mountable & had features only found on todays club mixers ($700).

I sold the amp, pre-amp, turntables, cassette players & reel to reel & the reel to reel tapes to my friends son for $250. Every single piece did not work properly anymore. It lasted me 30 years though. Still rocking the Heresey speakers & my 12 channel equilizer though. My mixer got stolen by a fine fellow soldier when I was being packed up to come back & ETS out of the service. Makes me sick to see what those things cost today !!!

When I was growing up in the '60s, my dad was way into " HI-FI " as it was called back then. While most everybody was listening to portable phonograph stereos (like the pic below) , I had a H.H. Scott tube amp that my dad built, a Gerrard turntable, and Henry Kloss speakers. I've been hooked ever since. I've had JBL, ADS, Bose speakers, Marantz and NAD amps, Yamaha turntables, Teac reel to reel and Nakamichi 3 head cassette tape recorders.

Sonos wireless speakers are some of the most insane sounding gear I've seen in a while...I love mine, they're a little pricey but if you want to run everything through your phone, you wont be disappointed. One medium speaker sounds better than my folks old pioneer towers, will shake the floor. Plus have multiple speakers through the house all tied into the wireless network...the wife can select the room she's in on her phone then change the music to what she wants

Music is all done in garage. Sounds friggin awesome. Neighbor is not happy, but hey, it drowns out his stupid g-damn dog that barks non-stop. Win-win for me.

Even the wife commented on how good it sounds. I will move those garage speakers to our basement when i get the outdoor Klipsch speakers.

My neighbors aren't too happy when I play music either, I'll just say that I have limited myself from powering up all equipment at once. How many people know what a Klipsch horn is? Yeah that's what I run most of the time through Bogen MO-200 tube amp mono blocks. The electric bills I used to have in the past....if only I had even half of that cash! lol I parked the Peavy black widow concert speakers for now along with my KLH book shelf units. Still run the Hitachi quadraphonic receiver along with the marentz. Run the Dukane amps from the theatre for mid-high range and countless other amps that I need to reorganize in the the travel hardig isolation rack.

This is the tip of the iceberg of what I got and run. I can go on about all the stuff I designed and built too, but let's just say it will take time! lol!
