So, what year did the PW start using the 220 amp alt as standard ? I know if you get the dual alt option now, the 2nd one is 220 amp but I thought the standard one was still 160 amp ? I also knew they bumped the standard 160 amp up to 180 amp for a little while.

The diesels have a dual 220 amp alt option. For the PW, I thought that 380 amps was max from the factory for the PW ?

Could be a misprint on their website though.

I am pretty positive when you get dual alternators it is 380 amp.

I was surprised to see that some of those small cars are involved in the recall (220 amp alternator!?).

There may have been some 3Gen commercial trucks (4500/5500) with a 220 alternator but for the PW the single 220 alternator option started in 2010+ with the 4Gen 2500 Hemi trucks, I think the dual alternator option was not available until 2014+ with the 6.4 Hemi, right now here are the options:

1) Single 180 amp alternator (standard equipment)
2) Single 220 amp alternator (optional equipment)
3) Dual 160/220 amp alternators with 380 total amps (optional equipment)

4Gen diesels have a dual 220/220 amp alternator option with 440 total amps.

3Gen PW's came with a single 160 amp alternator standard, all other 5.7 2500's came with a 136 amp alternator standard with the 160 amp available as an option.

If you have a question about yours, go to these two links.

Here to see your trucks specs.

Here to check for recall.

I only do what the majority of the 4 voices in my head tell me to. In most cases, I ignore two of them because one doesn't speak English, and I suspect the other is talking to someone else.

It must be just certain vehicles with that alternator? I have the 220 amp in my 2014 but typing my Vin in to the mopar site says I have no open recalls.
