. After looking around on the internet I realized that the choices were pretty slim. I liked the "Console Vault", but the price was a little more than I wanted to pay. I then started to consider my options of modifying something else to work from some other vehicle. What I came up with was the Bestop locking storage drawer for a Jeep TJ (#42641-01).- It also comes with a locking cable, so that even if someone wanted to take the time to remove the mounting bolts, it would still be tethered to the seat frame.
The box fit under the seat with an 1/8" to spare, but it would have to be shifted to the inside to clear the power seat motor and the bracket was 2-9/16" too narrow.
- The unit comes with a bracket that attaches with countersunk screws to the bottom of the box.
- Here's the finished product. I slid the seat forward so you could see what it looks like installed.
- The drawer opens all the way, however a floor mat would interfere with access.
One thing to consider is that if you decide to try this and your truck has carpet, it may be a tighter fit.
Overall I'm very happy with the quality of the box and the way it turned out.
Now I'm interested in hearing and seeing the ideas that some of you have had to add extra storage capability to your trucks. I have a couple more ideas that I'll be sharing soon.
