I have had the Cooper STT Pro tires on now since November, no complaints with them, great tire. Tire size is 315/70 r17. They dont rub the control arms (thankfully) and my truck is stock. Will give updates on how tread wear is and how they do in the snow/mud(if we ever get snow)

I didn't realize the stt pro and the courser mxt looked so similar. I almost went with the stt pro's but the mastercraft's were about $300 cheaper. I'm glad I didn't now because the tire isn't much different for more money.

Is your truck leveled or just the angle of the driveway?

My truck is not leveled. Just the driveway has a good angle to it.

Well, I am on my now 4th set of tires in 112,000 kms, just to give you an idea of how hard I am on them. I work oilfield, so my driving is lease roads, dirt roads, winter roads, highways, and all the shit in between.

Stocks BFG's -

Garbage, separated on me after 50,000kms.

Duratracs studded - 25,000kms

Great tire, got them used from my mechanic for free, they had 60% tread or better left on them. Great tire I ran them for a winter and spring before I blew a side wall. Would get them again if they made a 10ply 37" but, that's asking a little much I think.

Fierce Attitudes - 35,000km

Great all round traction, not bad on the ice, chewed through snow, sand, mud, gravel, all of it. Cleaned out well, took a LOT to balance, approx. 16-20oz per tire. Downside, soft side walls, blew one. Still have 70% or so on the 3 remaining I have. Waiting on 1 new one to show up so I have a set of 4 again. just in case.

Introducing The Maxxis Trepador! 2,000kms

heavy as all hell, about 85lbs a pop, 3ply side wall, listed as a 8 ply tire, but the seem really stiff for being 8ply, no weights required for a smooth ride. Come new with a whopping 21/32 tread. Will keep you all posted.

wow, great thread.

A couple of points I thought I would add. The stock BFG's that came with my 2012 truck were awful. I think the majority of us agree with that. They are only "ok" on snowy paved roads. They are pretty good on soft sandy desert trails. That's about it. Ran mine bald at about 40k miles and they were well, bald by then. (worth noting, I have 3.5 miles of private gravel road to dive to get home). Could not wait to get them replaced. Ended up putting the wrangler duratracs on them before I knew the factory had already switched to them on newer models. My 2016 PM with the wranglers is far better (the tires not the truck. the 2012 truck was better.... but that's for another thread).

Second point I wanted to make, I did a lot of research when I was looking for new shoes for my hummer H1. I got so frustrated by all the guys saying all the tires they ever had where out of round. Folks, it's well documented, tires actually are very rarely ever out of round. Out of balance, yes, out of round, no.

The problem is almost always your truck or the tire shop doing a piss-poor job of balancing and mounting them.

Well since I'm about to ditch my stock BFG ATs I might aswell throw in my 2 cents about them, I'll keep it short and sweet.

I honestly didn't mind them, they have a little over 30k on them now and all have right at 6/32 left. They all worn crazy even and flat also, rotated them every 7k miles. Ran them year round in all different types of weather and never really had an outstanding issue with them. They did chunk on the treads, but I also live on gravel that is stupid sharp so it tears up any tire that drives on it religiously. I also only had 1 slow leak, from a rusty roofing nail.

Dry traction was good, but I'm also no racer so I didn't push them. Wet traction was also good, no complaints in any situation I saw. Didn't see any mud really, the little that they did see wouldn't have been a challenge for any tire. Snow traction was okay, didn't have much for fresh powder since I bought the truck so didn't play in anything to test them. I did try a deep snow drift with it once but it just wheel hopped to hell, that probably had to do with my 60psi pressures and it was hard packed frosted over snow. Packed snow and ice it also did well, only had a couple times it got out of hand, but that was mainly because of my driving, and the weight of the truck.

Overall I would give them a 7/10, I would put them on my Ranger if I wanted a good year round tire I wouldn't have to worry about, but I wouldn't buy them again for the wagon, but only because I don't like any close tread AT type tires. I'm more of an MT or RT guy.

I've got about 31 on my OE Dura Trac's. I'm thinking of doing General Grabbers in 315/70/17. I am considering Toyo Open Country AT's but doesn't look like I can get it in 305. So I was thinking of 35x12.5 or 285/75. I like the idea that with the 285 the tire will be a little narrower and weigh less. But I am kind of sold on the idea of a 34-inch tire.

I would rock 37's if towing long distances weren't something I did every other week.

I had General Grabbers on a previous vehicle and really liked the tire. And it seemed to be wearing well. I also had the Toyo Open Country ATII on my 1500 I traded for the Power Wagon. It was a solid tire. So I'm stuck trying to decide between the two. The GG though has a more attractive price point.

You 6.4 guys- I'm assuming you lost about 1.5 - 2 mpg when you jumped up to 35" MT's?

If basing the MPG on the truck's computer estimate, isn't this mostly from the fact that the speedo/odo are off (less) by about 10%? The truck "thinks" it's going less distance but using the same amount of fuel. My speedo now indicates 10% lower speed than actual confirmed by the Nav's GPS display.

I know the 305/70/17 Toyo AT2 was on back order for awhile but I just ordered 5 on Monday and they're supposed to be in by the beginning of next week. On my previous 2500 I had the 285/75/17 AT2 and loved them and they were my 2nd choice for my wagon if the 305 was not available. I can't wait to say goodbye to the stock GY Durashakes.

Yes. Very common. They will work. I am running the same aize in the M/T on mine, as are many people.

The 35x12.50's will fit on the rim, but you're not going to get the spare tire in the factory location. From what I understand, the 4.5th Gen Power Wagon won't fit a 35" tire in the stock location.
