2015 pw engine noise

No recall listed for my truck confirmed this with the dealer , mine was built oct 29/14 , funny though whats the chances that the recall ends oct14/14 So mine was built 15 days later ! My engine is fuxxed with only 10800 kms of light use on it , it sounds like a desiel , acturally louder then one hopefully they can make this right will jeep you guys postes truck is due to go in too my dealer on march 22/16 . I have notified chrysler canada and they have opened a case on my issue so thats a start i guess .

Bad wrist pins, there is a recall for that.
The wrist pin problem are from June '14 to Oct '14 build dates from what I read. But his does sound like that, or his lifters are bleeding off overnight. When he starts it in the morning. The lifters have to pump up again.

From the link that Reloaderguy posted. And what I read in there. Yea, it's for all 2500's will the Hemi.

My code is EJ, I think the recalled ones are code DJ. Still something to keep an eye on though.

For anyone who thinks that their PW falls under the recall. Best thing to do is go to the dealer and see if yours falls under the recall.

My local dealer doesn't even know what a PW is, let alone if it has a recall.
I buy from a dealer that's out of state.

update truck was at the dealership , got a call and said everything was normal ! as I suspected their dixxs and useless , I depanded a second opinion so I left the truck at the dealer refusing to pick it up until I had the chance to be there for a cold start with another mechanic and the service manager , the following morning we met outside dealership in the parking lot fired up the truck it was a cold - 16 and it knocked for about 2-3 mins before it died off right as the dodge engine tech was standing next too me I said " does that sound normal to you " he says " no the engine has a knock and they now have it documented but due to the fact that the 1 st mechanic said it was all normal the previous day of my apt they could not get the truck in right away to diagnose it , truck is set to go back in soon . I am not letting these guys away with this , the noise is horrible !

They first said mine was normal too. I had to line my truck up next to another on the lot and stand next to the service manager and do a cold start both via remote. He looked at me and said "your truck is sick".

Mine meets all the specs for being an "affected" build , but the service bulletin states customer has to exhibit the cold start knocking, observed/diagnosed by a "level-3" engine tech, to get the engine replacement. Mine has yet to make any weird noises on cold start, but has exhibited some cold start struggles when left outside for 8hrs or more with temps below 20F.

Yes, complete engine replacement. Chrysler wanted the original sent back to review.

Engine was replaced at 4000 miles. I now have 30,0000 and haven't had any issues since.

Another update , truck has been at my local dealer for the last week got an update today finally , the engine tech has advised me that my truck does show all the symptoms of the previous service bulletin 09-002-15 but my truck's build date was not included in this particular bulletin so they have the info sent off to Chrysler for review and a plan of action . Tech also advised me that the truck knocked for a full 20 mins before the knock went away . Not sure whats going to happen now , new engine I hope ..

Well shit. I'm been following this thread closely. Before I even read any of this I noticed once on a remote cold start that I had that weird knocking that didn't sound like normal startup noise. It caught my attention then. Now reading all this I went to check the build date and it was Oct 2 2014. Better safe than sorry so I'm headed to the service department this week. It doesn't do it all the time but now I'm taking videos of every cold start to try to capture it. I don't want that typical "it seems to be running fine" bullshit when I take it in.

You will have to fight , i have been fighting with them for mths , at 1st they tried to blow me off. And said its a normal noise i have had a few hemi's and yes some tick , but mine knocks worse the a diesel ! And yes its only usually after its left for hrs due to the fact with no oil up around the connecting rod pins there is no oil there to mask the knock .. Dodge fxxked up and install too small of a wristpin in each rod .. There is too much play and hence the loud knock .. The dealer recommends a full engine replacement on my truck just waiting to hear back from chrysler's engineering dept on confirmation of the full replacement . Or more diagnosists either way i will settle for nothing leas then a conplete engine , taxes in this ram cost me over $70000 here in canada its not a cheap truck to have sitting at the dealer not being used . I am beyond fustrated with chrysler on this they better own up too what they sell . I just hope your dealer is quicker and better too deal with then mine .. If you need any more info just ask .

I hear you on knowing the hemi sound. Since 2005, I've had 3 5.7s (1/2 ton, 3/4 ton, PW) and now this 6.4. If a noise you've never heard before catches your attention instantly, to me, that means something's not right. At first I wondered if the noise was from being the larger motor...but a knock is a knock and that's never been good from my knowledge. But I'm no mechanic. I'll see what they say but if it gets worse, they can fix it or what til the shit blows up. This dude I know named Mr Warranty says they have to fix it either way.

Frustrating...if the wrist pins are spec'd wrong, then why don't all those 6.4 's knock like some on here report?

As far as I can tell from my research , the wrong wristpins were randomly selected from a huge bin and installed in different engine in several plants , therefor my truck's engine has 8 wrist pins perhaps 5 of them are the correct size and 3 are the wrong size pins , some trucks may have received 7 good pins and 1 bad one .. who knows all I know is my truck sounds like a diesel after a cold start ..

Just got word today from my dealer , new engine is on order truck goes under the knife may 3rd/16
