Plug and Play Locker Bypass

Post by Calvinm119 » Sun Oct 07, 2012 1:52 pm

Need some help gentlemen. I was wondering if anyone knows how to fabricate a plug and play locker bypass? Winter is coming and I need to get this done before it gets to cold.

It's not " plug & play" but here is how it all got started... http://powerwagonregistry.org/locker_bypass.php
Disregard the first paragraph.

Yeah I saw that, but I don't fell to comfortable with all the splicing and such. I mean I know I could do it and soundly I might add..... but if there was a way to do it without cutting and splicing too much I would rather do that

I don't know what year PW the OP has, but...

Have heard that the recent Jeeps can be changed through the computer to allow lockup in hi-range. Probably requires a cooperative dealer, but some off-road shops that deal with Jeeps may know if the PW computer (on the later models) can be tweaked to allow hi-range locking. Of course, what I have heard may be wrong, too.

That would make things a lot easier, but I doubt most dealers would do it... The Rubicons always get the cool toys!

Planning to do this some time soon. M t-case position sensor went out. No lights light up. Prob jammed in top position. I've tried to take it off to see if I can coax it to lift but couldn't find wrench big enough. BTW wiring diagram is gone from that FAQ section. Undeniably it's pretty trivial but could be helpful. I would also suggest to unplug that connector that will make it far easier to work with. As far as plug-and-play does anyone have part numbers for corresponding male female plugs?

FYI:

Anyone with a late model 2012 (Built after January 2012 I believe), the standard locker bypass won't work because the resistance values changed when they went from the NV271 transfer case to the Borg Warner 4447. I don't know what the 4Low resistance value is on the BW t-case, mine was built in September 2011 and still has the old NV t-case.

I stumbled into one of these on DT last week for $45 shipped. $120 seems a bit high to me.
