Large fuel tank.
Large fuel tank.
Hi Guys. I need a big topltvny tank. Strong and without problems EVAP absorber.
Maybe someone knows where it produces?
Or know how to disable error of EVAP?

Re: Large fuel tank.
I don't think there is anyone making a LEGAL bigger gas fuel tank for the power wagon or any other newer U.S. truck. Too many legal issues and would not pass any inspection.
There are tanks for diesel fuel available. Both in bed and replacement type.

Re: Large fuel tank.
I looked real hard last year and could not find one for my '05. If you are willing to spend serious money and put your spare in the bed, you could fit a racing fuel cell where the spare is now, just to augment the factory tank.

Re: Large fuel tank.
I'm in the process of fitting a aux 19gal tank from an late 80's Ford F-250 into the spare tire spot. It looks like it will fit beautifully. Waiting on a strainer fuel sender. So I can have a gauge for it too. And since I can't fit. Spare tire there anyway

Re: Large fuel tank.
When I talked to them they said it was for use as a diesel tank or an aux gas tank for filling Quads and motorcycles in remote areas. The gas aux tank for use on the truck as a an auxiliary tank for use on the truck got me in trouble as they would not talk about that at all. I see no difference in filling a quad or a power wagon. At $1,800 it gives me pause but I may get it anyway as the range of our trucks is the big issue for off road use.

Re: Large fuel tank.
You can not use it for an auxiliary tank for the truck. It is to be considered as a stand alone system for fueling your toys at the dunes etc.
You can not tie it into the OEM fuel system. The aux pump as well as the fueling nozzle can be used to fuel other OHV equipment. If you use it to add fuel to your truck who am I to judge?

Large fuel tank.
I work in pipeline construction, and all of our operators have aux tanks in the bed of their trucks. That's all diesel though. You could probably put one in the bed of your truck and put it in a gravity feed system tied into your fuel filler hose. I did that when I had my cummins, but again that was diesel. Most pumps like, GPI, and Fill Rites are all for diesel. I've seen guys do bed tanks for gas, but I'm not sure I'd be comfortable with that with the volatility of gas, compared to diesel.
Titan tanks, or something alike, as a direct tank replacement would be your best option.

If you search "gas tank" on NorthernTool.com, there's is a lot of options, for in bed tanks, but you'll have to see if they're compatible with gas.

Titan would not discuss with me, either.
Re: Large fuel tank.
Do you have a CHECK ENGINE light on and want to repair problem or just turn light off?
Re: Large fuel tank.
Gasoline is a whole other ball game. If you want it legal, then be prepared as stated above, to pay BIG TIME. Tank is around $2000 https://www.transferflow.com/shop/produ ... &c=10&s=p-
Then, in NY State anyways, to be legal, it has to be installed by a NY State DOT certified fuel tank install station. About another $1500-$3000.
Nothing is easy here for gas engines.

Diesel's easy because it's not nearly as volatile.
I just throw a couple 5-gallon "utility jugs"
in the bed.

Re: Large fuel tank.
Lets clear the air please! It is not about volatility or safety!
It is all about the selling company paying for certification to legally tie into and modify your evap emissions system to comply with EPA regulations. Thats it... period Amen!
If you do not tie it into the OEM fuel system then there are no issues as it is an auxiliary tank for farm or OHV fueling and is not regulated in the same way as an auxiliary tank for integrating into the OEM fuel system. Simply implying that you will add fuel to your truck with it and they will stop talking to you and will not sell the tank to you.
It is no different than a plastic or metal can transported in the bed to refuel OHV or farm equipment. It has nothing to do with safety it is all about the EPA regulations... period!

Re: Large fuel tank.
With a bit of work you can swap the factory tank for a Titan tank, you lose your factory skid plate for the tank though.
You need to move the Evan canister to the outside of the frame rail from the inside, this mean extending hoses and wires. Can be done.
Legally it shouldn't be, but honestly who is going to notice your tank is 3" deeper and 6" longer then stock.
I bought one with full intentions of putting it in my truck. Until I started looking at the hassle of the install. The Titan tanks literally go from transfer case to axle. Not a lot of room there for much of anything.
As for a spare tire fuel tank, this is likely more the route I will take. You can plumb a line from the pump given into your fuel tank, and it's run off its own aux switch. With gauge and everything, you may want to consider adding an inline filter, but the extra 120L +/- would be a hell of a thing to have, but the 2000$ price tag kind of sucks.
I imagine you can find an old gas tank that would be close in size from an minivan or large passenger car, that may be square, and you'll have to build mounts, install a fuel pump and figure out some sort of gauge. At that point I'm not sure the legality of it, as if you're using a true gas tank, they really can't say it's not being used for its intended purpose.
Food for thought, I know what I'm looking up tonight.

Re: Large fuel tank.
Get an L shape auxiliary tank. You put a hose from the drain tied into the filler neck behind the gas cap. Use a ball valve to fill. It takes time but it works watch your gage and close the valve when your happy. If your camping your in no hurry anyway! A 12 volt fuel pump works also from the tank fill. Power can be tied into from anywhere you like. Good option if you don't mind losing bed space.

I've had a transfer flow toolbox tank for a couple of years and I love it. 40 extra gallons comes in handy as well as storage space. That spare tire tank is cool though.
