2010 Improvements
Re: 2010 Improvements
Well I thought it was ball joints, turns out both my hub bearings are shot. Sure would like a free spin kit right about now but maybe next time..

I only do what the majority of the 4 voices in my head tell me to. In most cases, I ignore two of them because one doesn't speak English, and I suspect the other is talking to someone else.

Wow what a difference with new bearings and Thurens trackbar!

Re: 2010 Improvements
The best way I can describe the difference from the factory trackbar to Thurens trackbar, as far as being responsive and "feeling" the road, is it's like fishing with cheap monofilament and then upgrading to a top grade braided line.
Before when I drove through a long curve, I was adjusting the steering through out to keep it in line, now when I enter the curve, there's no more adjusting, it holds true to where I point it. Same goes for straight line as well. And the bumps seemed to have decreased dramatically. Before a single bump might feel like three, now it just takes it smooth and you dont really even notice it.
Thurens track bar is now Highly recommended from me...

Re: 2010 Improvements
Do you think it would be possible to run the 37's without the Thuren arms? I dont flex it to often and will rub im sure at parking lot speed when turning, but in your opinion do you think they would work? or is there going to be to much rubbing with the factory arms?

37's are Too much for factory arms, I ran 35's and they rubbed but it was tolerable. I don't see 37's working though. I wished they made a 37x10.5 ...

Re: 2010 Improvements
This is yes and no. Less luggy tires that are closer to 11.5" will have less issues. I ran 37s 12.5/17 bfg km2s on my 06 with no lift and stock arms. What did rub was tolerable. On this truck I ran general grabber mt in a 35" and they rubbed more than the 37" hankooks with stock arms. So it's hit and miss. I'd bet Toyo Mt would rub for sure as I believe they are gonna be 13.5 wide. Don't know till you do it. Maybe I'm just used to driving vehicles with poor turning radius and I don't notice. Besides. If you aren't turning tight enough then romp on the throttle and counter steer. Will wrote:37's are Too much for factory arms, I ran 35's and they rubbed but it was tolerable. Sorry* around the coil bucket and track bar frame piece on drivers side* kens is touching just a bit since Thuren arms installed but it's super minimal but when we were looking and double checking everything I noticed it and he said he heard it once or twice

Re: 2010 Improvements
10-4, I remembered that, I crawled a little, got out and looked, crawled a little more, got out and looked, etc...
Finally ended up compressed on the bump stop with no touchy touchy
Instead of presetting the length, I just gave it to my alignment guy and said here, it's adjustable. He got it spot on with the four wheel alignment, the truck has never "tracked" so well (that I can remember)

Re: 2010 Improvements
Awsome
I spoke with Aaron at Thuren fab about this awhile ago and he just told me not to go over 39 1/8" as it would cause clearance issues and under would be more bump steer. The axle doesn't appear centered when it's at 39 1/8" but it will cycle 10" I believe without touching

39 1/8" will not center the axle it will be off the just the right amount to make everything work together without touching and cause the least amount of off center possible.2wagons1driveway wrote:AwsomeI spoke with Aaron at Thuren fab about this awhile ago and he just told me not to go over 39 1/8" as it would cause clearance issues and under would be more bump steer. Re: 2010 Improvements
Yeah, mines not exactly center with the fenders, it favors the passenger side eyeballing it, but everything functions perfectly and the rear tracks dead on with the front. I rode down a smooth, flat, dirt track and got out and looked back at the foot print and they're dead on top of one another, not sure if that really means anything but I thought it was a good sign.

Re: 2010 Improvements
I did mine at 39 1/16". The OEM PW bar is 39 even (1/8" longer than the standard 2500). I have possibly 3/4" over factory ride height with the Carli coils and 39 1/16" seems perfect for my truck. FYI at 39 1/8" the axle is too far biased to the passenger side and will hit the coil bucket on the drivers side at full compression by a small ammount. Will wrote:Yeah, mines not exactly center with the fenders, it favors the passenger side eyeballing it, but everything functions perfectly and the rear tracks dead on with the front. Re: 2010 Improvements
Well, after new wheel bearing assemblies and trackbar, the truck handles much better. Today is Friday, I filled up the tank Sunday night. It's been a busy week at work so I've only been back and forth to work and that's it. I decided to reset my mpg average and drive conservatively all week, by staying under 3,000rpm and no more than 5mph over the speed limit which is 55mph in the highest zone. My normal route is 26 miles one way with 12 stops (redlights and stop signs) as of now that's 220 miles and 108 top potential stop and goes. (red lights)
37" Yokos, topper, bed full of tools and a bedslide (enough my truck sits level), 93 octane on hemifever InTune = 15.3 mpg average

Awesome! Looks like I need to email Sean. I'm getting 13 empty. As long as I stay where I was stock I'll be happy. But would love to push a bit more out
Re: 2010 Improvements
The topper may be helping some also (so they say) on the hwy... If I drive like I normally do and don't think about it, occasionally racing off the redlights
and never reset the average, I'm at 14mpg. This was just a conservative test to see what I'm getting to and from work without playing on a normal day.
