It's a 2015 with only 2500km on it which I why I was so pissed off!
I truer it out and it didn't seem any more effective then idleing it since the just went into 3rd gear and barely burbled at 800rpm so after 10 min the trans temp went from -5 to 21 which is almost the same as idleing it

Re: Powet wagons don't like cold!!!
The trans being stuck in 4th is a fault that comes up when the trans relay in the TIPM isn't sending power to the trans (basically limp mode). I don't know of any history of this specifically relating to cold weather, but I have heard stories of this happening in rare instances of the PCM/TIPM's failing, corroded wiring, or getting a bad tune loaded in. I would start by uninstalling whatever tune you may have loaded and see if it persists.
On the auto's it's not going to have a very large impact by putting it in drive with the transfer case disengaged. On the 545rfe's, park and neutral both have the same fluid flow path so idling in either one of those is the same, and if you put the transfer case in neutral and put the trans in drive all your really doing is changing the fluid path to lock a couple of the clutches so it drives the internals. Yes this spinning parts will build a little heat, but minimal. To build heat you need to load the torque converter as most of the heat in an auto in generated by the torque converter. To get it hot faster, best would be to leave everything in gear and have a high idle of 1000-1200rpm or so to put a small load on the torque converter. Now this has obvious downfalls of you really need to trust your ebrake, and I recommend a gauge on the hot line to the cooler so you can keep and eye on everything. I used to use this method on my old 02 (advantage of mechanical throttle linkage) when it was really cold and I would just keep an eye on my trans temp gauge while I was cleaning the truck off, or shoveling snow. For my PW (G-56) I'm with Twin and Throttle. I just leave my truck in second till I get to the end of my street and usually by that time it has thrown the oil around enough where it will actually shift. If I try to shift shortly after taking off, you may as well forget trying to use the clutch as you have to speed match shift anyway.SnakeEyes wrote:
Would that work with a auto? Just put t case in neutral, push the park break and put it in drive?

Pretty sure on the auto there no need to do the whole t case in neautral because the planetaries are rotating as soon as the engine starts with the t convertor. Your convertor will get things moving and grooving no need to be frustrated while trying to get the truck back into 2h. Lol if I let my truck warm up for ten minutes (2012) the trans temp will climb with the engine until it levers off at about 36-37f until I start driving. It's -2f here

The truck is running the stock tune. My 2015 wagon isn't supported yet so my Diablo sport tuner is useless till they update to suppor 2015 RAMs. I jut used it to clear the p0882 code.TrueCowboy426 wrote:The trans being stuck in 4th is a fault that comes up when the trans relay in the TIPM isn't sending power to the trans (basically limp mode). Take it back to the stealer ship and have them run a diagnostic on it.SnakeEyes wrote:The truck is running the stock tune. We have a 2013 PW took hunting last month. It was -40 in FSJ. Had no issues. Truck was not even plugged in. Handled great in the snow too.
