Alaska off road warriors

Post by R0NAN » Mon Jan 05, 2015 5:15 pm

I've been watching this series on the history channel and thoroughly enjoy watching these guys beat the hell out of their rigs. I wished there was a power wagon in the bunch. It's now down to 4 teams. Land Rover team is out, leaving a jeep team, two Toyota 4 runner teams and a Toyota land cruiser. I think the jeep team will win but the land cruiser team has a good shot at it. What a blast. Some pretty rugged terrain up there. Who do you think will win?

No idea who will win. Hate the super jeep though lol I mean if you were going to win 100k$ wouldn't you spend more then 10,000 on a good reliable offroad vehicle lol these guys drive me nuts who brings a stock draglink to the party up in laska if you running 37's lol! I do like the show though maybe just because I like seeing what not to do

Been watching it too........

For $100,000 on the line. I'm not very impressed with the selection. Looked like all of them had open front ends, maybe a limited slip. For for knowing they would deal with alot of mud. 35-39" tires......

Seems to me a Powerwagon, 6" lift, modified fenders, 40" Tires, Rear winch in reciever, front Hyd assist steering....... WINNER!!!!
2006 Power Wagon. "Stockish"
A few parts added and deleted to make it go 300' Getting Farther from Stock!!!
1974 Power Wagon..... Going to get a Gen 3 HEMI swap. Future tow rig for the 06.
2016 Power Wagon Laramie. Delmonico Red. 20x12 Predator II's with 33" toyo's. Firestone air bags. B&W gooseneck. More extras to come....

It seems like the only way to get on that show is to have a POS. It's not good television to have a proper rig that doesn't break down.

Wonder if they have a limit on how much they can spend on a vehicle?

I was under the impression that they all belong to a 4x4 club( except super Jeep ). I think they simply entered their truck more or less as it was, and are carrying whatever parts they think they might need. If there is a season 2 , we should sponsor one of our members to kick some ass. I'd toss in a few bucks just to see a Power Wagon in the group.

I could only read a couple pages of the "pirate thread". I could barely stomach the cynicism. If that's what it was like over on Dodge talk , it's no wonder you guys started this forum. They're like a bunch of cranky menstruating dogs nipping at each other.
The fact is that the wheeling they are doing on that program is pretty challenging at times. For the most part, they help each other out. As for the drama.....what do you expect, it a reality TV show. It doesn't seem that dramatic to me. The two guys in the old 4 runner are dumb, the crazy guy( you can't fake crazy) with the blond hair in the land cruiser seems to legitimately have a screw loose, so he entertains me. The guys in the jeep seem decent and the guy and girl combo are cautiously boring. I generally hate reality tv shows but at least it's a topic that I enjoy.

Lol... yeah you have to have very thick skin over at pirate. Most of the people are fab Nazi's who like to critique the wrong ways of how everyone else's rigs are wrong.

Yes, lots a good tech and what not but lots of shit too. But they do have quite a bit of helping hands in the offroad community. Lots of trail clean up plannings, lots of helping other wheelers in need like the recent two episodes of extreme 4x4 or whatever it is now. Where they built a rig for a returning soldier who got royaly dicked over while in Afghanistan, that started from there. Blue Torch Fab also built a juggy for a wounded Marine from around 90% donated parts all from pirate... I actually donated the Dana 300 transfer case for that one... lots of good but lots of BS. But I find enjoyment in some of the debates and such, reading just how irate some people get. Its a damn web forum, take a chill pill bill.

Sounds like dtx pretty much also. Tons of good tech but you can get scrutinized pretty good for doing something different then the other 150 guys on there did...back to the show. Ya it's difficult terrain but what would you expect from Alaska I enjoy the snorkel that's just an open k and n with no splash gaurd on super jeep lol tv is tv I guess! I would love to see 05's truck or bangs track hit that shit up and demolish them! Lol

Ya they beat em pretty hard. I'd love to see a power wagon in the mix with 40" tires, a short flat deck on the back instead of a box and a rear winch. Watching those guys use the land anchor has answered my question as to whether they are effective. They seem to work well so long as you can get it into the ground. In the soft mud, it seems as though someone needs to stand on it to keep it in the ground.

I gotta say I think they are now on day 11 or 12 of wheeling. And if I remember correct a lot of those days are 8 plus hours of wheeling. That has got to be exhausting. I'm a fit guy, workout almost every day, eat pretty good, and I'm starting to get tired just watching the show! Haha!

Ya if it wasn't reality tv I would say shit that must suck but because there's nothing real about most reality tv I have to think that most of the show is bullshit!
