2014-15 power wagon must dos?

Post by SnakeEyes » Sat Nov 15, 2014 6:11 pm

Hello all! I've been creepin in the background for a few months now but I just pulled the trigger on a new 2015 power wagon and I'm coming outta the shadows lol
I am new to the power wagon world so I am wondering if there are thing that I should do or fix now Cuz of future issues? I already messaged the vendor here about a locker bypass and if it will work on a 15 truck otherwise I might have to rewire things haha

I'm new as well, bought a 14 back in Oct. So as far as issues time will tell on those as more trucks get out on the road. I know one guy lost an engine at 4100 miles, but Ram stepped up and got him a new motor.
First mods to mine will be 35's, Traxda 1.5 leveling kit, and a speedo corrector of some sort. After that I'm just going to drive it. I'm not planning on off roading my truck real hard, only going to use it hunting and exploring. So far the few hunting and exploring trips I have been on I am impressed with the truck.

You guys won't be disappointed.

First things first.

Use di-electric or fluid film all your connections for your diffs and away bar. As well as your winch plug in.

Second, use and abuse your truck. Drive tem hard and enjoy the ever living piss out of them.

Third, welcome to the winch mob!

X2 on the dielectric grease and Fluid Film for the locker and sway bar connectors. If you do some searching on here you will lots of posts on that. Myoung's locker bypass should work on the 15's as it works on the 14's (I was the guinea pig) but his kits are in pretty high demand so you may have to wait a little bit. However, the wait is completely worth it!!! Best mod I ever did on my 2011 PW and now my 2014!

FYI, 315/70/17s (35's) fit on our trucks stock with very little rubbing.

Your right they do and I wish I could I like the selections in that size. But we have these da** TPMS and they cannot be adjusted to run lower pressure. So we have to run 35x12.50x17 10 ply's.

I run duratrac 315/79/17's in 10 ply with no issues.

Granted it's winter now and I am running 40pssi from and 45 rear, and my tpms lights on. But, honestly who's looking at the dash! Hell I'm apparently not even looking in front of me!

Ah, just ignore the TPMS. Mines right out of my truck, and other than the light, no big deal. To "alter ego", pretty sure he'd know whether his is a 15 or not, since he had to register and insure it. I know damn well mine's a '15. And as for 10 ply, I'm running 8 ply bfg at's, at 35 front, 32 rear, where they stick nicely to the pavement andthe snow. Each tire still has a load rating of 1450kg, at 50 psi, so more than enough capacity for me. Just means I'll live with the light for as long as I have the truck! With luck, AEV will kick out a pro cal for the Ram, and allow us to disable TPMS, like is available on the Jeeps.

I run 315/70/17 at around 38psi and just ignore the light. You get used to it being on. I'm not even sure I would disable the TPMS now. I still like seeing what pressure the tires have in them and the light doesn't bother me anymore.

Actually we are quite lucky. Ram spent a lot of time working through the details with the 2014 PWs to make sure everything was right. They didn't even release the 2014 PWs until around April this year. The 2015s are essentially identical with the addition of hill descent. These trucks are perfectly capable as is for most of us without having to spend money to fix things.

With that said - the lockers can STILL be really slow to engage. So you are on the right track getting queued up for a bypass kit. So yes - run it hard and try to avoid the fire hydrants

Ordered a 15 couple weeks ago also. I will trade in my 05. My 05 had death wobble in 09 and i fixed it with 35 "nitto trail graps, updated 2008.5 steering, borgeson box/shaft, carli upper/lower ball joints, carli trac bar, bilstein 5100s, dt profab steer brace. I am hoping these new wagons have no steering issues. Up til now i havnt heard of any yet. I will linex the rockers and bumpers and use dialectric grease on the connections. Other than that I just hope it fits in my garage.

My Co worker has an 06 Cummins leveled on 35s. If he had the cab clearance lights he wouldn't be able to park in his garage. Even to do that the garage door had to be adjusted up.
