Installing my new rock rails hardware question

Post by leo72987 » Thu Sep 11, 2014 12:32 pm

Hey guys I just bought the rock sliders from MidnightPW the other day. I have been digging through the forums on DodgeTalk and here and can't seem to find any info in regards to alternative mounting hardware used. I noticed looking at the hardware list on the rock slider install directions that everything could be purchased at a lowes or home depot. Except those square plates for the carriage bolts.. So my question is does anybody have any ideas were I could buy these? Or has anyone found an easier way to mount the sliders?

Alright guys so I think I found what I could use for the 1/2 Carriage bolts let me know what you think

http://www.etrailer.com/Accessories-and ... P3022.html

That's 1/4 inch plate designed for a 1/2 Carriage bolt. Now I just need to find ones for the 3/8th bolts lol.

IIRC, someone posted that very link in a previous discussion. Pit Slave posted sources for fish wire but he will need to jump in with that info. I don't remember...

See: Silver stars headlights, 9012 fogs, reprogrammed for fogs with high beams, (2)6" KC LED gravity in driving/spread behind the grill
Tunes:Pioneer AVH-X5800BHS w/stock infinity amp, Infinity ref. dash/reardoor speakers, kappa component front door, JL rear stealth box and JX500.1d.

Ha, how did I miss this thread?

Let me know what you need if you still need it. I've installed mine without needing to drill the 5th center hole to fish the hardware into the frame as there are access holes already from the factory. I have install pics too as well as instructions.

Hey there I'm looking for the square plates that the carriage bolts sit in including the fish wire. I figured the carriage bolts themselves I could pick up at a lowes or Home Depot.

I had some 1" wide flat stock laying around so I cut them to length with a hack saw and then drilled a hole and opened them up with as square file for the carriage bolt.

Not the most efficient way of doing it I suppose but took less than 2 hours. Faster than if I had driven to the machine shop twice.

I used grade 8 carriage bolts which I couldn't find locally and had to order but seemed like the right decision.

Any hitch installation shop (like U-Haul) will have that kind of hardware laying around all over their shop. The spring thingy to fish that hardware into the frame is another issue all together.
