A larger gap typically lends itself to a quicker and more thoroughly burned air/fuel mixture, but you need the power in your ignition system to make the jump across that larger gap. It's usually not recommended to go past factory specs, but I know there are charts available to see what range is best suited to a particular voltage/amperage/resistance combination.

Thanks, Sheepdog! I ended up going with a .045 gap. I bought the truck with 92k on the clock and wanted to start getting down to maintenance, so that I know that it's been done and done right. I can't be sure if the plugs that were in it were the originals, but I suspect that they weren't. What I do know is that whoever put them in, didn't bother to check gap. I had them ranging from .065 to .035.

Needless to say, the truck runs a lot better now that I've done the plugs, cleaned the MAF sensor, and cleaned the throttle body. Up next - trans and transfercase fluids, differential fluids, cleaning the magnet for the lockers, Carli front diff cover, and a free spin kit.
2008 PW - stock with the exception of CAI, Superchips tune, LED tail lights, bed liner, tonneau cover, bed rug, swing case, and a black magic e-fan with override switch (for now). Now accepting donations for lift and tires!

Glad to hear it! It's pretty typical to see larger gaps with worn plugs due to the natural erosion of the points from the sparking. Having a smaller gap however is not right! You hit the nail on the head that a previous owner didn't do proper gapping.

FYI; Hemi's don't have a Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensors, the sensor in the intake tube is only an air temperature sensor.

I believe they use a Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor that's located in/on the intake manifold somewhere.

Not sure if these are the original plugs. I've put 70, 000kms on it since I got it 4yrs ago. Wasn't really that bad of a job to do. Thought it was going to be tougher.

Also cleaned throttle body. Man was it black. Did front and rear brakes yesterday and rotated tires. Figured I saved a ton of money doing all myself. I'm cheap!!

Just did my diffs, transfer, plugs and throttle body. I'm not sure if I'm making myself feel it, but man it seems like it runs smooother. I do all my work myself not just for the money issue, but I just dont trust other people.

My feels much smoother. That is till you get up to 90kph. Then starts to shake like hell. Need to get tires balanced again. It always did shake a little but now worse since I rotated the backs to the front.

Use Dynabeads Brother...problem solved! After that all you have to do is rotate them yourself...rinse & repeat as needed.
