New meats

Post by TrueCowboy426 » Sat Jun 07, 2014 10:42 pm

I was supposed to hold off on buying new tires for the PW until fall but I couldn't leave my truck nut-less with bald tires and with truck pulling season coming up, I had to get new ones. I went with my favorite tire again that has treated me well. Looked at a few others, but just couldn't justify the money risk going with something I don't know. These were very expensive at $420/ea CAD, but I'm okay with that. Also took the opportunity today to wash, clay bar, and wax the truck. I forgot how damn sexy this thing can be when all cleaned up, and how much tread new tires actually have!

Yes on Toyos. I have AT2s on two trucks now, and when the PW set wears out it's probably going back to M/Ts.

Thanks guys. For size went with 35x12.50 again.

06, haven't put the clutch is just yet. I was hoping if the weather would co-operate this week that I would do it in my driveway, if not it will have to wait till a weekend I am free at my farm and do it in the shop there. I would also love to come pull with you, but way to far to drive for 20 seconds of fun.

I don't know for sure how long I had them on (I know I got them May 2 years ago), but I believe that they have around 65,000kms (40,000miles) and in all fairness to them they have been beaten very hard on the road, and have done their fair share of things that a big truck like this shouldn't be doing. The front tires still have quite a bit of tread (around 3/16" - 1/4"), but the rears were pretty bad mostly just cause I got lazy and didn't rotate them in the last 8months.

Thanks for the info! I'd be quite happy to have a mud tire under a 7000lb truck last 40k miles!!! I'm curious to see how my MTRKs will last, I doubt it'll be that long!

I got about 35M on my 35" Toyo M/Ts and they are still on the stock wheels, ready to go if I need them. Probably good for another 5M in good weather, but not so much for mud. New tires are 35" AT2s on H2 wheels. The M/Ts are amazingly good tires on this truck.

At least once a year I clay the truck, and try to wax it as often as I get a chance. Getting the paint clean and slippery makes it so much easier to clean when I do take it out and thrash it.

Plus a good wax hides a lot of the scratches that is in paint. It may look good in the pics, but there is a ton of pin-striping and a lot of paint chips that I have no idea how I got.
