I finally heard back from dodge Corporate, they told me to go pound salt (so-to-speak). I expected as much. Looking forward to the Nissan Titan CTD.
Re: New massive recall of 1.2M Ram trucks....
I have two dealers with the parts on order for me now. The local dealer ordered 2 months ago to the date and I had the dealer that I actually buy from across the state line order them Monday. They said whoever gets it in first I can get them because the other set would just go to the next in line.

I read on another site that the new parts were failing also and that's why there is a new delay in the recall being done.
My dealer first said parts would be in for my truck last month, still no communication from them......

That is why i replaced with all aftermarket parts. Stock parts SUCK BIGTIME on the front end of these trucks. I have had no issues since i did.
Re: New massive recall of 1.2M Ram trucks....
The problem is misalignment of the TRE after an alignment is done allowing them to bind and break. I am told that the new parts somehow force the mechanic to align the TRE before he can tighten up the TRE. This prevents the mechanic from screwing it up.

Re: New massive recall of 1.2M Ram trucks....
My dealer told me they are allowed to order one set every 2 weeks. There are 30 or so on the list right now. That makes it 60 weeks till the last guy gets his parts, and the list is growing. Not cool if they are having trouble with the new parts too.

Re: New massive recall of 1.2M Ram trucks....
They are probably hoping that many get rid of or trade their trucks in on a new one during those 60 weeks. Imagine if you had a business that depended on your truck, & they told you that you had to wait 60 weeks !!! This is the new global economy, outsourcing & NAFTA at it's finest !!!

my dealer still has a small pile of them, stop by and get it replaced on the spot. no questions asked, no "waiting list" B.S. Somehow I find it unbelievable that all these dealers are "having a hard time sourcing the parts" and putting people of some random "waiting list."

So they are hogging them ey? My dealership said that the first batch of replacement linkages were recalled as well. Who knows when Chrysler will get the right components made. Re: New massive recall of 1.2M Ram trucks....
I called the dealer about my recall notice a couple of days ago to schedule for Good Friday (my next day off). The service guy said he wouldn't have the parts. He went on to tell me the first vendor for the parts for the recall had also provided faulty parts and the new parts are not available yet. I asked if he has a list for the repair work to be done in the future. He said he did have a list and I had him add me to it. He went on to explain that those who have already had recall work done will have to have it done again because of the defective replacement parts.

Re: New massive recall of 1.2M Ram trucks....
I call the dealer that installed my recall parts and they said there is no new recall in the system. I also looked on the ram truck website and there were no new recalls for my truck. Strange. I wonder if this is more of a distribution or quality problem than a completely new recall on already installed parts.Cactus Red wrote:Heard that yesterday at the dealer too.

Re: New massive recall of 1.2M Ram trucks....
Thinking I might just go a different route now. My steering is so bad when I am coming out of slow turns (like in a parking lot) I find myself stopping the steering wheel and the slack takes over and continues the turn at the radius I want... Not sure how much longer I can wait. I wish they would just send a check for what the parts are worth and then you can deduct that from an upgrade.

You would probably get a check for $3.

Your probably right.$3 I email corporate for a build sheet last week. Got a reply yesterday, with the sheet and recall info. Just need to call the dealer and find out when they can do it.

Re: New massive recall of 1.2M Ram trucks....
Just got back from the dealership. Had to pick up some non-related parts, but received an update on the new steering components. Looks as if they are receiving shipments now of the fixed, then fixed again, parts. It'll still be a couple of months before they get to me, but at least there's news. From speaking with the service manager it looks as if we're losing our clamped dampener in favor (and I say that lightly) of a bolted design.

Got an appointment to get my recall done on the April 22. Wonder if that (bolt vs. clamp bracket) is going to affect the use of my Bilstein 5100 steering stabilizer?SheepdogOutdoorsman wrote:Just got back from the dealership. Nevermind the phrases in the pictures, but here's the current (old) steering setup compared to the new (older yet, but new again) setup.
I believe the stabilizer you mentioned should still work.
