Re: Exhaust Opinions
That is a hell of a deal for the db Corsa system, hope it works for ya. Looking forward to the outcome.
I wanted to go the Corsa route, but the Corsa Rep I talked to said they haven't released the non-db system for the '13 2500(on top of being over the $1000 mark). I had a Corsa system in my Chevy and loved the deep tone and burble of the 5.3 with it.
I got the Borla muffler installed this morning and am testing out how it does with the resonators still on. I will decide this next week if I want them to stay.
Initial feelings are great. On start up and under acceleration it is mean and great tone. The drone is almost to the annoying level when the RPMs are between 1500 and 1750. However, at any other RPMs or on the highway at 65mph, it is hardly noticeable and just a nice tone.
The muffler shop looked at the Y pipe and said it would take a while to access it in order to cut and weld in the Magnaflow because of the skid plates. I didn't have a lot of free time today, so I will take all those off and bring it back in when I decide on what to do with the resonators.

Cool, thanks.RckyMtnRam wrote:With autoanything. com... ALWAYS do the chat option... their representatives are authorized to give deeper discounts if you buy it right then. They will send you a link directly in to a shopping cart/checkout. Make sure though they get the right part # loaded. They started to sell me the dual exit exhaust v. the side exit.. I didnt notice until I had just finished checking out..I freaked out.. Luckily I was still on the chat session and he fixed it and is crediting my card the difference between the two(the single side exhaust is like $150 cheaper than the dual exit). I'm now looking at a volant CAI with the donaldson powercore filter for like $330 shipped..

Didn't even think about a 2-1 muffler versus Y pipe... how's it working for you? what's everyone else's thoughts?

I have been eyeing a butterfly valve kit on amazon for a while that allows you to open up the exhaust straight from the headers for quite a while here.06wagon wrote:Open Headers!!!!!!

I highly recommend leaving the resonator on there, the muffler will break in and get louder in time. I have the Y pipe and 24" long magnaflow with the tail pipe resonator and it still drones a little in the 1800-2000rpm range, however it is nowhere near as bad as the dynomax system I had with no resonator (needed ear plugs).

Re: Exhaust Opinions
It's working good. Didn't notice anything drastic in MPG but it sounds great and throttle response feels a little better. I didn't think of it either until my exhaust guy mentioned it mainly did it to be different and save some coin over another Y pipe.jeep_boy02 wrote:ScottWagon1 wrote:Junked the y-pipe all together.ScottWagon1 wrote:I did a magnaflow dual inlet single outlet muffler with factory tail pipe and love it.

Mr Scott, is your exhaust guy in the cheyanne area? I live just down the road in Rawlins and am in the market for an exhaust upgrade and I have had no luck in the past with my local dudes.

Re: Exhaust Opinions
Sure is buddy! Perfection Exhaust is the name. He does great work and I have used him many years. They are not the cheapest but they are the best. Hell he even tapes and paints over all the welds! I had a Magnaflow dual inlet, sinle outlet and a SS tip put on and if I recall it was around $550 or something. so the factory Y-pipe is gone. I kept the resanator and the factory tail pipe. I love the way it sounds. I would recommend calling him as he is buy appointment only. Have a 4th gen? Let me know if you come and maybe we can meet up!Mexican Import wrote:Mr Scott, is your exhaust guy in the cheyanne area? Re: Exhaust Opinions
Thanks for the recommendation I appreciate that. Will be calling him soon and planning a trip that way within the next month or so... and I am always down to go wheeling especially testing my new exhaust. I have a new 2013 PW (in the past I had a black 2009 PW that I truly loved but our relationship ended sadly) but I'm back in the saddle now and ready to explore so I'll let you know when I decide to go that direction to possibly meet
Re: Exhaust Opinions
bstefanic, do you recall which Aero Turbine Model you have? I have a buddy with a AT3030 on his 2011 wagon and it seems to sound nice with no drone. I was planning on going the same route but have a wife that would not appreciate the drone or excessive noise. I've also considered the 3030XL with the extra resonator in it.
2012 Power Wagon SLT Blue Pearl, Thuren suspension, 35" Toyo RTs, Linex bed and rockers, Aero AT3030XL muffler, BT Catch can, more on the way...
