Is this tool able to accommodate gearing changes as well? Like switching from 4.10 to 4.88 or 5.13, or do you have to calculate for a tire size with the equivalent final drive ratio as the 4.10 and 33's? Sorry if its a dumb question, but I didn't see that touched on in this thread.

It will do that and tire sizes. Pretty sure Charles has a video on the tire size. Not sure about the gear part, but I read about that over on Ram Forum. I need to dig a little more into the app myself. Just been a busy week on my end.

When I went to 4.88 from 4.10 , I did not have to update the computer. I'm not sure where it is tracking it, but the BCM had the speed correct after the change without adjustment. There is a setting in the BCM for gearing, but it appears to only be a placeholder. I assume there is a sensor on the rear axle used in the speed calculation.

I did update the value in the BCM, but as stated, it appears to be a placeholder, as far as the speed is concerned.

The speed is picked up from the tone ring that's on the rear ring gear. Gearing doesn't matter. Tire diameter does. If the speed was picked up at the end of the tranny or transfer case. Then gearing and tire diameter both would matter. In the later, if you went to lower gearing. You can increase tire diameter and be at the same speed and need no correction applied.

So here is the deal with the thresholds if they are staying on. A few folks are having this issue. I have a hunch, but no one has answered my latest question on the subject yet.

After you enter your PIN to reset the Hub, go into the CHECK ENGINE section and read all faults, then clear all faults. Then disconnect normally and and shut off the truck. Open the door, close it, let it sit for a full 5 minutes. Then restart the truck and now it should work.

This worked for mine. I have a check engine light for my EVAP sensor. I believe when there are faults, it won't allow for a full reset. At least, that's my hunch.

Or really any faults, even if they don't result in a light; might prevent it. So if it stays on, try clearing faults after you do the RF/Hub reset.

So far since I have done my suspension and swapped to 37's, I have successfully changed the tire pressure thresholds, tire size to correct speedo, as well as converted to a premium cluster with the ability to write the VIN to the cluster and match up the hours and odometer. Very handy tool to have.

I will say this though, I am starting to believe the cluster I received is from a 2014 (I emailed the seller to confirm as it wasn't posted in the eBay ad), as I cannot get the hill descent control function to show up (which 2014's apparently did not have), nor am I able to get the splash screen on start up to change. So that is something to keep in mind if you have a 2015+ Wagon, and you want the premium 7" cluster; make sure you get one from a '15 or newer truck so you can retain full factory functionality.

I can confirm that Hill Decent was added in 2015!

Seller just responded. It is a 2014 cluster I received. So that sucks. Depending on what I work out with the seller (he has a few others for sale), I may have a premium cluster I don't need, if anyone is interested.

On the 2020 you do not need the pin anymore they have a rilling code just like the keys.I was able to chang tpms thresholds to 40 with no lights and changed tire size for speedo with 35s.

I'd like some more info on this. We were having trouble with the tpms change on my 2019. It kept resetting alfaobd mid change

So no need for the PIN on 2020 w/AlphaOBD? I'm doing reserch before jumping in. I was going to call dealer tomorrow to ask about the PIN. Does the screen even pull up to enter the PIN when adjusting TPMS?

You do not need to reset the radio hub on the gen 5. Dealercwill make you go in person to get code, but it is not needed.

You need it to reset the rfid on a gen 4 iirc, which is needed to reset the TPMS thresholds. No idea on a gen 5.

If you need it, the parts department is who can give it to you, they may want the registration and your DL as it is also needed to reprogram the security stuff. If they don’t want to give it to you another dealer can do it. They also just may not know what you want, the lady in the parts department who got it from me took a while to figure it out. IIRC there are like 3 different pins on a gen 4.

Alight folks I just did my 19 and it was hands down simple

Ok ladies and gentlemen. I have found our work around on the 5th generation trucks to change our parameters on our TPMS and tire size easily. I went to a 35 inch tire and couldn't stand the thought of keeping my nice 35 inch tires at 65psi, especially since I spend large amounts of time on the beach.
At the direction of my service tech, I needed to tap into the bus bars to change the parameters and bypass the security functions. Even for the dealer the truck would kick the computer out when the parameters were attempted at a change.
Per the direction I received, and research I found the KAodTech Harness Bypass. The instructions were kind of sparse and mostly easy to understand. I had one problem trying to figure out what was what now I feel dumb for it being so simple. There is nothing to unplug on these things to make it work, just simply plug and play. Per the email that KAodTech sent me after I requested help, you plug their bypass harness into any open 2 pin ports on each side. One leg of the harness is labeled white/green, and the other leg labeled black/green. The wires go the corresponding block in the CAN Bus bars. The bypass can be made to be either permanent install by removing the OBD Port from your dash and plugging it into the female OBD portion of the harness, then using the new OBD port as the standard plug, or you can make it part time by leaving the stock OBD port in place and plugging in the harness around the dash then removing it once its done its job. (you will want to remove before going to the dealer unless you are good with your service crew) Another note about removing the harness is you will need a size 00 flat head screw driver to trip the locks on the Bus plugs to remove the harness.
Next, upon getting the harness plugged in, you will need a code reader such as the OBDLink MX+ or the FIXD reader, then link that to your phone and access it with a AlfaOBD.
The steps we followed were
a) Select the computer access, body, ecm, etc. We accessed the BCM
b) Select the module set - this being TPMS (however many other options exist)
c) Select the parameter and value
d) Restart the truck to ensure it took.
I hope this helps yall with your trucks. It was a 10 minute job to install the harness (more time getting the trim off and on) and another 5 programming.

So I just got vfc to playing with my alfa... granted I have a 2010 so idk if that's why but I changed tire size, wasn't expecting circumference in mm as I'm used to diameter in inches... and set my tpms thresholds to 35/30... neither required a RFH reset. But when I go look into the "read status" where it lists all your settings it still says tire circumference 00.00mm??? It is also still off 5 mph, its 5 high so not as bad as 5 low but what gives?

Do these play nice with tuners? I have a bullydog hemi GT and had the tires set to 35, it was 3.5 mph high. Just measured my tires and they were 33.875 inches so that's what I converted in the alfa.

My low tire light did go off so that all worked. It seems like it froze up and I even hit the stop button but it took it still.

What's the deal with the axle and low/high ratios being what they are? I believe only the low ratio is actually correct.

Update... I must of fat fingered something while setting tire size. I redid it and it's on closer with the speedo now. Just gotta fine tune. I did notice that when I change tire pressures with the upper threshold it does not ask for a reset, but when I do it with the lower threshold button it asks for a reset. It did not ask for a reset with the tire size change though and all was good, I even did it on the side of the road. Was going to do it while driving but decided against that just incase it started to shut things down.

I also have never gotten the bells and whistles to go off while changing sizes like people mention.

Ok.... more playing and figuring outs...
If you use the tire thresholds in the body computer drop down list, it changes both min/max to the same pressure, and they are reversed btw, for me anyhow.

But if you log into the "vehicle config" at the bottom of the list you can enter each min/max, F/R setting separately.

I also tried to set express window to all windows but it didn't work, I'm figuring the rear switches need to be swapped out to complete it. Anyone know why the settings that feal with lockers, diffs, ratios are skewed and what would happen if changed to match what's here?

And what is the "offroad capable" config option?
