2017 software update radio doesn’t turn off

About 25 days ago or so my 2017 insisted I do an update the on the software. It was a forced update in that I was locked out of using the radio until I did the update. I completed the update and now after I turn the truck off my radio doesn’t turn off when I open the truck door.

I found a setting that says engine off and I tried setting that to 0 seconds and the radio still doesn’t shut off when I leave the truck locked and walk away. I am not sure when the radio shuts off but I think it’s about 45 seconds.

Is there a setting that I am not seeing? It drives me nuts to lock the truck and walk away with the radio still on. Yes, I know I could actually turn it off but that seems ridiculous. Anyone know how to help with this?

Might have to try the factory reset.

Are you connected to Bluetooth?

If I'm in a call or playing media files from my phone my radio doesn't shut off either.

Thanks for the ideas! It's not Bluetooth. I just tried it again with my phone in the house way out of range. I also just tried restoring factory settings. Not change the radio still plays after I lock the doors on it and walk away. It's really baffling me.

Just spitball'n here. How about pulling the fuse to it or disconnect the battery for 15+ min which *could* force a reboot?

I had that same message pop on my '16 a couple of weeks ago and I proceeded with the OTA update. All seems fine, but there was initially some funkiness with station presets.

That’s a great idea. Saturday I’ll pull the battery ground and let it sit for a while and see if that fixes it.

Good news I disconnected the battery for about thirty minutes or so and all is well. I would have never thought that I would have the need to reset my truck. LOL They sure have come a long way from the old days.

Unfortunately the issue came back. I pulled the ground cable on Friday and immediately drove it and all was well. I drove it again later in the weekend and the radio won't shut off now when I open the door. I don't drive it very often. I think I will wait until this weekend and try disconnecting the ground again. Frustrated. I hate going to the dealer.

Mine 2015 started doing that also. I sat in it after opening the door and it finally shut off in 1-2min. I was also going through the OTA unconnect "update failed" at the time. I finally downloaded it to a USB stick and updated that way. It hasn't done it since.

That’s a great idea. Can you get me pointed int the right direction for the update? Is it as simple as downloading the file and inserting the usb drive? Where is the download link?

seems like I tried this before (update via usb) and it wouldn't update because Uconnect was already on that version... but you can try it.

Here is an update. Last weekend I tried unsuccessfully to update the software. I did a reset and that worked. For a while anyway. I don't drive the truck much so I checked it a couple of times an it appeared to work. However I drove it a bit on Saturday and the the radio started not turning off with the ignition again. Today I gave updating the software another try and it worked this time. I drove it for about 5 miles and it still was working properly. Hopefully the manual update did the trick! Fingers crossed. LOL

same thing happened when i was forced to do update a week ago for my 17' CTD. radio stayed on after ignition turned off. but the problem went away after a few days....
