What kind of trouble were you having that needed a new smart bar to fix?
The lights on the panel for the lockers and sway bar disconnect went out. Nothing worked.

My SERV light just came on again along with flashing RR light. I've already replaced rear locker three times. I think sway bar still works.
Good news is I moved to Florida last year from southern Cali. Don't think there is any use for lockers here anyway. Black tape will cover lights and call it a fix.

Great news, remember the dealer has to program the new smartbar into the trucks computer before it will work.
No they don't. I installed the smartbar and plugged it in. Everything works great. In fact, my lockers lock quicker now.

The dealer never seen it.
Glad you didn't have to pay the dealer for anything. The installation procedure must have changed for 08 because programming was needed for 06-07 at least according to the shop manual.

Dealer did first one under warranty. I've paid for two already and now it is out again. It's an '05 with less than 80k miles.

My 08 FSM says the same thing (programming required with scan tool).
The only thing I can think of is that it's capable of working out of the box but it's probably not communicating with the rest of the network. You would have to have a scan tool that was able to read C-codes (chassis) or U-codes (manufacturer specific/network). I suspect there would be a code #U0114 for "Lost communication with FDCM".
If it works I wouldn't worry too much about it, unless you want to have access to diagnostic data.
