KM3
Is anyone here running the new BFG KM3 on their power wagon? I’m considering these in 35/12.5R17 on either the stock 2018 wheels or AEV Katla 17x8.5. Any input, photos, and initial impressions would be appreciated.

Re: KM3
Thank you, I totally can’t decide between 35” and 37”. It’s the worst case of indecision I’ve ever had. I keep second guessing myself with the “ what if “ paradox.

Re: KM3
I don’t even know why I bothered with 35’s. I love the 37’s more all the time.

Re: KM3
For purely off-road the 37 totally makes sense. As my DD I’d like to squeeze every MPG I can out of my PW, while still being decent when we do go off-road. Do you recall the difference between 35s and 37s in day to day MPG?BoldAdventure wrote:I don’t even know why I bothered with 35’s. I love the 37’s more all the time.

Re: KM3
If you’re a calm driver and go with a light or mid weight 37 you will probably see consistent or even improved mpg over stock.Punishher7 wrote:For purely off-road the 37 totally makes sense. Re: KM3
I work from home, we don't commute. And to be honest, I don't track MPG's anymore. I make enough money. It's never been a concern.
Well until just this past trip to Moab. Milage was so bad, I took a cord of wood with me in the PW along with the Airstream, and filled up more than the last time I towed with the Airstream. Didn't really think the extra weight was that much, but apparently so. Guess it's time for gears.

Re: KM3
Probably a BFG because it'll actually be the size of a 33" Toyo.

Not really sure there is a “light” 37KevinABQ wrote: ↑Mon Nov 05, 2018 12:36 pmSo what’s a light or mid-weight 37?DamageWagon wrote: ↑Mon Nov 05, 2018 4:19 amIf you’re a calm driver and go with a light or mid weight 37 you will probably see consistent or even improved mpg over stock.
Also, not just weight but less rolling resistance, like a true A/T or even a hybrid, will typically offer a bit better mpg’s as well as life/mileage out of the tire.
While not necessarily light (82 pounds!), I think the 37” Falken ATW3 would be a very nice true AT tire. I have read nothing but raves on that tire. There really isnt many out there to choose from for a true AT.

Re: KM3
New they were less than 1/4" under 37". They have 24k miles on them now which is probably where the 37" BFG would be dry rotted, measure 32", and need to be replaced.olyelr wrote: ↑Mon Nov 05, 2018 1:07 pmIm curious, what does your 37” RT’s measure?Reloaderguy wrote: ↑Mon Nov 05, 2018 12:57 pmProbably a BFG because it'll actually be the size of a 33" Toyo.

Re: KM3
In my mind a light 37 would be a Yokohama MT, Toyo RT
Mid weight would be the Toyo MT 12.5-wide and most other 37’s
Heavy weight would be the Toyo MT 13.5-wide (actually 14.4 if I remember right) and other similar wide tires.
Rolling resistance, tread compound, weight, there’s lots of variables. The biggest variable is the driver.

Re: KM3
37x12.50 Cooper STT Pro's weigh 77lbs. That is what I just put on. That's pretty "light" for an 37 MT since pretty much all other major brands are over 80lbs. I say go with a 37. They look perfect on a power wagon. I would have been pissed if I went with 35's. MPG is not really a concern for me because it's bad either way.
