Post by AllanDickerson » Thu Jan 09, 2014 3:24 pm

Does anyone have one 2005 stock rim for sale? Mine fell off while driving and I need a new rim now. The deal ships want 600 dollars for one.

http://www.allprousedautoparts.com/ has one in FL, listed at $103.00

You don't want to get anything newer than an '06 wheel - you have the good ALCOA made rims on your truck.

Your awesome. Thank you I was so bummed I was going to have to switch to aftermarket cause I couldn't find one. Already called them and the guy asked for a picture to match them up. I wonder why it is only 103. What is the difference in the 2005 wheel vs other years?

The original wheels were forged by ALCOA, made in the USA, double bead seat wheels specific to a Power Wagon. While similar, my '09's were made in China...

Really? So 05/06 are different or just made in different locations?

The design is the same from 2005 thru 2010, but the ALCOA rims are, obviously, a better quality rim. There is some debate as to if the '11-'13 rims are the old style double bead seat, and we know the new trucks aren't.

The junkyard place was a bust. It wasn't a power wagon rim. Any other ideas? Thanks in advance

That was the closest one to you - I got that info from the http://www.nationwidear.com/part-search.asp web site. They had a lot of wheels available.

This is actually the case. They are Alcoa after 06, but the production location changed, as well as the manufacturing technique. They are forged but in a, shall we say, more economical fashion after 06. Pit Slave needs to jump in with the full explanation. He gave the details over a few beers one night, so it ruined any chance of total recall.
