Hey guys just wanted to give you some additional details about this version of the locker bypass... The link provided fools the computer to think its in 4lo.. You will experience throttle oddities when using this mod.. Such as using the lockers in 4hi... This version was retired for this reason. Our trucks have electronic throttle control dont forget. Honestly until you can get a true bypass from pitslave i recommend just hard wiring for now. There is alot of writeups regarding doing such a thing and you dont nesscaary have to hack wires apart either lol.

Yup - the diode type mod is not worth the effort.

Thanks for the heads up. Is there schematics for hard wiring on 4th gen wagons?

The diode method is good if you want to use a different resistor to fool it into thinking it is in 4hi and get the sway bar disconnected in 2wd for less rocking and smoother ride on fire roads and such.

It will lock back in however once you exceed 17mph. I find I only use the smart bar feature as the 4low mode while actually in 4hi with locked axles is useless and the 4low throttle mapping is miserable in 4hi. So if you fool it into 4hi and only use the smart bar it is a much more useful mod IMHO.

I just wish the smart bar stayed unlocked above 17mph. I have ideas on how to get that done but have yet to try any of them.

Regarding wire diagrams for 4th gen's no idea... Not sure if Dodge changed the wiring colors but the basic premise is exactly the same... You just need two out of the four wires coming from the locker harness at each axle. The idea is you take one wire and run it to a switchable power source and the other simply to a ground. I have included a detailed link from Dodge Talk... They have the best most detailed walk through I have found and with pictures no less!!

So looking at this thread. Will this method give throttle oddities thinking its in 4lo? Any other problems I should know about before attempting.

I was really hoping to get a plug and play set up and not have to resort to this. Doesn't look promising to actually get one

If you go the hard wire route like me and alot of other people you will not experience any throttle issues... You are literally splicing into the locker system. You are leaving the two other wires "sense wires intact" which means you will not throw a service 4wd light either and your sway bar disconnect will continue to work the same as well. Beautiful thing about this is it's reversible haha... I don't suggest bringing the truck into the dealership hardwired like that. They will have a shit fit

Perfect!!!! That's what I wanted to hear. If I can find new connectors to match the factory ones a friend can build me a "T" harness to plug in and avoid splicing wires. (We think)

No problem and hey worse case you can always use T-Taps

Not on my truck you won't.
Or trailer, sled, bike, or any other vehicle of mine. Image
Those things are a recipe for broken wires and electrical headaches down the road.

Haha fair enough I have seen other members use them so I figured I would throw the option out there but I have not personally used them before. I did end up just cutting into my harness and using butt connectors, so far I have had no issues going this route.
