Cheap Chinese crap. Do you know if the wheels would be stamped "made in China"?

There might be other ways to tell, but a couple years ago we determined that you could tell using the serial numbers stamped inside the wheel...it seemed like the earlier the PW, the more likely it had US-made Alcoa wheels. The thread is probably still on that other site somewhere...though I'm not sure exactly what words to search for in order to find it.

I don't remember if they actually said "made in China" on them...it seems like it was more complicated than that. :)

Edited to add: Just looked at the pictures, and I guess it is that easy - mine say "USA" on them. :D

They actually have "USA AWFP-01", which means that they were made by Alcoa in the US - and '01' is the plant number that producted them. They also have the part number, and the date produced.

On a somewhat related note, I was cleaning out one of my sheds yesterday and found my set of "normal" 2500 aluminum wheels I bought off e-bay a few years back...and they were made in the USA. Dunno what year they're off of, but I wonder if they moved production of those to China when they moved production of the PW wheels...otherwise it'd be pretty sad if the PW wheels were made there, but the 'normal' wheels were still made in the US.

My steel 2500 wheels were made in Mexico, which makes sense - since they appear to weigh approximately 428 pounds each, it'd cost a lot to ship them overseas. :)
