I can’t speak to how well/reliably they work compared to prior generations since this is my first PW.
They do seem to lock quickly if they are going to lock, but some times I’ve found I have to move it a bit for it to want to lock. But yes it is nice I can lock the rear in 2wd or 4WD high.
I’m assuming the answer is going to be the same For the sway bar disconnect, but that would be nice to disconnect the sway bar in 2wd and at more than 20mph

Actually, the Sway Bar Bypass works on all years of Power Wagon to liberate the sway bar from its nannies. However, to accomplish this I had to abandon the factory switch and use my own dedicated rocker switch. You can read more about it here: viewtopic.php?f=47&t=6736

Are these generation specific? Will a bypass built for an ‘18 work in a 2008 truck?

I'll try to post a new thread soon. I've been having problems with the 2005 model year. I was waiting to see if I could get it resolved, can't get the factory sway bar switch to indicate properly. 2005 is different than all the other years. At this point the "Full SmartBar Bypass" is only available for 2006-2012 trucks, giving the driver full control of the lockers and sway bar from the factory switches. All the other years can use the "Sway Bar Bypass" with a dedicated rocker switch. Same results, just not as sexy.

They are generation specific. The control box is the same but the wiring harnesses are completely different. 3rd gen mounts in the cab, under the dash and uses a 14 pin T-harness, 4th gen mounts in the engine compartment and uses a 10 pin T-harness.

Do you have any 3rd gen units available right now? You should have an email from me asking the above question. That might be easier communication.

Yes they’re still available, just send me an email at: AbelComponents@yahoo.com

Include the year of your truck in your email and I’ll give you some configuration options to consider. Also let me know if you’re having any out of the ordinary issues with your system, like constant flashing lights or no lights on the dashboard.

Hello!
Does this kit bypass both the lockers and the sway bar, or do you need this and the stand alone sway bar kit? Or, is there another one of your kits that does it all?
It is for a 2017 PW.
The locker dance to the locker Gods drives me nuts, and I can't tell you how much I ride around in 4hi just to disconnect the sway bar to smooth out the ride off road!

For a 2017 you would need this kit and the standalone swaybar kit. The combined kit only works on 2006-2012 trucks.

This kit will make the lockers dance to your tune. The sway bar bypass will give you complete control of the sway bar in any transfer case range, at any speed.

Edit: The new Full SmartBar Bypass (lockers and sway bar) works using the factory dash switches on all 2006-2018 trucks.

Well, it finally happened... I built a Locker Bypass for a Dodge/Ram dealer to fix a 2005 that they couldn't get parts for anymore. I guess they're not worried about voiding the lifetime warranty.

I have the Lifetime Powertrain warranty on my 08. They wouldn't honor it when my smartbar died. :box: Think because they didn't have any smartbars for 08's in the system. I had to get mine from a place in Texas.

So I’m going to Moab in a week and a half but started getting weird light patterns on the locker switch without any errors being thrown on Monday. As in I’m in low with the rear locked, the front not locked and then suddenly it’s fully unlocked and trying to lock both the rear and front. And then I go back into 2w and drive home and turn the dial to unlocked and it shows the rear locked and trying to unlock as I’m parked in my driveway.

I’m trying to figure out if this is a good candidate for your bypass or is there something else going on.

I would start by jacking up the rear axle and testing the ability to lock and unlock, to make sure that nothing is hanging up mechanically inside the rear axle. Then you could inspect and clean the connectors and apply dielectric grease. The next thing would be to clean the small sensor magnets inside the front rear axle and check the air gap.

Weird flashing light problems are usually the final drive control module trying to inform you that it sees a problem and has an error code. You would need a professional grade scan tool capable of communicating with the final drive control module to be able to read those codes.

As long as there is nothing mechanically or electrically wrong inside the front or rear axle, the locker bypass would solve these problems.

Apparently rear locker solenoid failed.

I have a 2005 and I have the problem of the serv 4wd light with the locker lights flashing. When that happens the sway bar still disconnects but the lockers won't engage. Usually happens in wet conditions. Will this fix my problem?

Yes, it will stop your flashing locker lights but it won't turn off your "Serv 4WD" light.
