Quick question..... What if the factory smartbar is bad? Will this bypass the whole thing? I'm currently getting all kinds of traction control, service electronic braking system warnings on my 2016. I have the smartbar unplugged for the lockers and swaybar (all warning lights have stopped). I'm just curious if using this will keep me from having to replace the whole thing.
This one only bypasses the locker part of the system, but I just developed a new system that removes the factory SmartBar module completely and replaces it with a “Full SmartBar Bypass”, all controlled from the O.E. switches. I’ve been so busy I haven’t had time to start a new thread. It’s a combination of this locker bypass and the new electric sway bar disconnect I’ve been working on. I just finished a 3rd Gen unit for a customer with a dead system and I’m building the first 4th Gen unit.

It requires a completely different control box and wire harness layout, so it’s completely different than the Locker Bypass that this thread is about. There’s a picture of the new control box in the thread titled “Locker Bypass Improvements”.

There’s already a waiting list, I’m working as fast as I can.

Right lol i just have only used my lockers for 1 event this summer and didnt really have issues with them engaging right away so i never installed it lol.. seems like once i was in loose dirt/clay they locked up right away 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️ but this kit is more enticing cuz id love to have a swap bar dissconnect to have it off in 2wd when i dont need 4x on dirt roads... or maybe cleveland site streets thesd roads are bad here 🤣🤣🤣

For those of you that already have a Morgan, Shelby or Abel Locker Bypass: There's a retrofit upgrade coming that will give you the ability to control your sway bar at will also.

Is this an upgrade to the one you created? Is there a writeup on it? I haven't actually installed mine yet... so if I could control the sway bar that'd be amazing without the speed limiter.

Sorry TankerZak, I see that I forgot to respond to your questions:
Here's a link to the Sway Bar Bypass prototype thread.

Here's a link to the actual item listed for sale.

Hey, I just wanted to post up in here that I received my locker and nanny bypass on Christmas Eve. So far I have only looked through the contents, but I must say I am thoroughly impressed by the professional quality of the kit. The packaging, labeling, and assembly of the harness is impeccable and better than OEM quality. Of course I have not been able to confirm the functionality, but I have zero doubts currently.

Thanks BLM Rig!

Yep, still making them. Whenever you're ready just shoot me an email: AbelComponents@yahoo.com
Email works better than PM, then I can provide installation instruction PDF files for you to look at and consider.

I bought my locker bypass in July but never installed it. I know I read some instructions but I can't remember if it was online or if they came with it?

The original 4th Gen installation instructions are available here. This system has been updated and now mounts inside the cab. To get a copy of the new installation instructions, send me an email: AbelComponents@yahoo.com

I don't want to clutter up your vendor thread, but I just wanted to mention since I had a chance to install the bypass last night, that it was a cinch. The build quality and forethought involved with the way you produced the wiring harness is incredible for what I consider essentially a home-brew product. Ran everything according to the instructions (aside from the rear locker harness, I did run that inside the chassis frame rail parallel to the main chassis harness on the driver's side and still had some length to spare), plugged the box in and with 2 simple adjustments had full control over the truck as I should have had from the factory.

Thanks again BLM!

A lot has changed with the 2019, the lockers are now wired into the controller area network (CAN-Bus) data stream, so the only way to manipulate them now is to modify the software or hardwire them with separate switches.

The good news is that the locker bypass isn't really as necessary on the 2019s as it was on the older trucks, due to the fact that, starting in 2019, RAM now allows the rear locker to work in 2WD & 4HI. This was one of the major complaints on the older trucks that caused the need/desire for a locker bypass.

Long story short, I don't have a locker bypass for the 2019 and don’t really have any plans to develop one, since all the new owners seem to be satisfied with the function of the new factory system.

Are you having issues with the engagement of the lockers on your truck? If a problem arises and there is a demand for a solution, I’ll do my best to meet the challenge, but at this point no one has complained about the locker function on the 19+ trucks.

Thanks for asking. :patriot:
