Well since there is no knob on the dash for lockers, I would vote its a non pw with a winch added.

Zoom in on the passenger side pic. I can see two bolts, and it looks like the lower one is a few inches lower and one inch forward.... just like the aev relocation mount makes it look. Hmmmm.

You are not lying. Wonder if somebody got the OK to put a level on their govt truck and it came with drop brackets. Just saw a Traxda 2” or 2.5” kit that comes with them. Can’t imagine somebody spent AEV money on their govt vehicle.olyelr wrote:I dono. They dont hang down that low, no matter how low you are looking from.

Re: Another Government Wagon Auction
Most government rigs come with an equipment budget attached so the driver of the vehicle can equip it like they need for the service it’s going to perform, ie tool boxes, loading ramp, radios, push bumpers, emergency lights, etc. Maybe they snuck in a lift/leveling kit on their equipment requisition.
Your tax dollars at work.

Re: Another Government Wagon Auction
For those that have successfully bid and won a GSA Auction, what was your experience like to pay for and pick up the truck?
- Once the auction ended, how long did you have to pick up the truck?
- Did you pay online before you picked up or at the time of pick up?
- Before the auction ended were you able to get any info (additional pics, details, etc) from the local office that was selling the truck?
- Any other issues or tips/tricks?

Re: Another Government Wagon Auction
I got preapproved for a car loan through my bank then I began my search. When I found the vehicle I wanted, I registered and began bidding. After winning the bid you do a direct wire transfer of money through the bank, they’ll provide instructions on how to do that. I had to wait for a document via snail mail before I could go pick it up.EasyDoesIt wrote: ↑Tue Dec 04, 2018 12:27 pmFor those that have successfully bid and won a GSA Auction, what was your experience like to pay for and pick up the truck?

You won’t be able to get any other information or photos unless you personally go and inspect the vehicle yourself or have a friend or family member nearby that can do it for you.
I picked up the truck one week later with no complications. Sometimes they’ll give you maintenance history, or they may guard it like national security depends on it. I looked at the oil change window sticker in the truck and drove to the local shop that did the maintenance and they were kind enough to print out all the service records for me.
I’ve purchased two vehicles from GSA, the first one was a truck that I had personally done all of the service and maintenance on, so I knew it was perfect. The truck I’m driving now was in really good condition, except for some cosmetics flaws and loose ball joints.
All in all it was a good experience both times and I didn’t feel like I got raped by a dealer and paid under fair market value.

Re: Another Government Wagon Auction
I'm expecting it to go over $20K. It's anybodies guess from there, but you'll be bidding against used car dealers and wholesalers who have there limit or they'll lose profit margin and give up. They have to factor in paying for shipping, reconditioning, fair market value, etc., whereas you would be doing all of that yourself and consider it negligible. You may also be bidding against locals or BLM employees that have had their eye on it waiting for the chance to buy.EasyDoesIt wrote: ↑Wed Dec 05, 2018 12:55 am

When I was shopping for mine I was out bid on one and then saw it on Auto Trader two weeks later for $6-7K over auction price.

If you snooze you'll lose... but there will be other auctions, maybe better and closer to you. Maybe you should drive by your local BLM field office or other gov agency and ask if they have any Ram 2500's (they won't know what a PW is) that will be coming up for auction soon.

Good luck!

Thanks again, good insight. I've seen several Utah dealers reselling BLM Power Wagons. I bid on a 2012 PW last year and went for an inspection, pretty simple to arrange and no real surprises except the battery was deadRetired BLM Rig wrote: ↑Wed Dec 05, 2018 4:32 amI'm expecting it to go over $20K. I've got friends in Meeker CO that I thought about asking to go look at it but I'm not too worried. But if I do win, I will be taking a detour to visit Meeker and Glenwood...beautiful country. Hopefully no fellow PWR guys are bidding against me!

The auction closed at $27,599 which is right at low KBB for a private party purchase and well below the price of a dealer purchase.
Congratulations to whoever the winner was!

Congrats, not a bad deal but not a good deal either. Maybe I'm cheap but I feel like that's not far off a dealer price after haggling. It's a tradesmen, if it were a standard pw or Laramie that's another story. I stopped bidding after $25k.

Either way, hopefully we will get a new PWR member.
