So the bottom line...considering the height of the receiver what is the best drop hitch that you’ve seen? Preferably keeping price in mind.

I'm thinking I'll pick up a GEN Y hitch. There Torsion Flex boss hitch looks pretty slick (thanks RetiredBLM for previously suggesting).

The Curt ones stick out a little further, allowing me to drop the tailgate with the trailer hitched.
The Reese hitches are a little too short, and pulls the trailer into the truck enough that the tailgate won't fully open.

Thanks for the responses. It’s a bit of a trick due to the 2” lift and variety of trailers.

I use different tongue/ball mounts for all the different things that i tow around. So its always a 10 second deal to pull the
single pin out of the receiver and slide in the different tongue. Down side is buying and keeping around the different tongues (but that's the price of being able to do a tool-less 10 second swap)
Btw: In some states it is illegal to have the ball and tongue left on your vehicle when you aren't towing anything. I leave my receiver empty if I'm not towing - which also helps keep them from rusting in the NY salt bath.

I use a 2.5 in. Gen-Y. 6 in. drop/3 in. raise or flip for opposite. 3k tongue/21K tow. Cheap is subjective. The Gen-Ys aren't cheap in my book, but it's the last hitch I'll ever buy.

I’ve been enjoying my weigh safe hitch for the last couple years.
