12K up Million Dollar Highway

Post by FordyceCreekTrail » Wed Oct 23, 2019 6:39 pm

Towed a Compact Track Loader, heavy Takahuchi thing up to my property for the first time. Heaviest load yet for the PW and I must say, it handled it like nothing, no real squat. However, 410HP feels like nothing screaming up those passes at 35MPH! :excited:
2018 Flame Red, Moon Roof, Dual Alternators, Ram Boxes sadly Ram ran out of, Luxo Package with 8.4 UConnect, Enter and Go with remote start, Auto Wipers and Lights. Added missing skids and White Knuckle sliders. 35" BFG KM3s. Procal and Warn wireless remote for winch.

Ahhh the days of the 5.7 screaming to hold 35 with no load along flat land with a gentle wind are numbered :)

I certainly don't miss hearing my old Hemi screaming at 4500+ RPM towing my camper up the hills as my new Powerstroke purrs quietly on the steepest of grades... Oh wait - I really shouldn't be posting that there! LOL

Ok, Ok - maybe I do miss my powerwagon a little... back here stalking the forum.. Ha Ha...

its the 19s isnt it? pulling people left and right into or back into a powerwagon.

i wonder if the 8sp in the 19s would be better at managing the load at those grades.

Mine is a '19 w/ the six speed.. I'm hoping you saw 'powerstroke' - aka F350 Ford (I jumped the fence this time).. I thought about the new 2020 8sp but didn't want to wait or be a guinea pig. I'm VERY happy at how this pulls 15k on the grades and how it controls it on the downhills. So far about 2500 of my 3200 miles have had the trailer hooked up... (sorry for the hijack OP)

yea, i was saying it must be the 19 powerwagons getting your blood moving.

and then i was saying maybe if you do come back and snag a 19 wagon, that the 8 speed would help you get over the 6.4

I have no doubt the 8spd would help. When I was screaming, or lugging at around 35mph at times, I could have made better torque with one additional gear. The thing is I believe my future load will be even a little heavier when I retire with dump trailer and CTL. Might be time to upgrade to a newer Power Wagon at that point given the 27K a year for work I am putting in...
