TACHOMETER

Post by fbenross » Tue Nov 02, 2021 3:22 pm

The Tach on my 2006 started behaving erratically and/or not working at all. Any ideas? And I don't want any guff from the old timers 8-)

Probably the stepper motor in the gauge cluster. If it was fluttering around at any point, odds are that's the case. Fairly common if I'm not mistaken. You'll have to get the stepper replaced for the tach, and there are various companies out there capable of doing that. Not sure how difficult it would be to do it yourself.

Well the tach worked like a-charm today. I hate electric gremlins. Thanks for the info on the possible cause.

Glad to see you are still here. You still camping with the PW?

TwinSticks..........well, he traded his PW in for a Cheby Colorado ZR2 a while back. We gave him some flack about it. Then he just vanished.

Just to follow up-I found this repair on UTube https://youtu.be/ufQ1t4eOwkM It seemed to make sense based on what my Tach was doing. It took an afternoon to do and the Tach is working again. I'll see if it holds up over time or if the Tach is still intermittent.
