When we have it in the Front/Rear Position the Frond and Rear Lockers will be locked, and the Front/Rear Locker light will be on
That is how the factory has it setup. Here's what I was thinking.

When we have it in the Front/Rear Position the Frond and Rear Lockers will be locked, and the Rear and Front/Rear Locker lights will be on

Doing it this way gives you independent status of both axles. Also, if you have the knob in either locked position and the axles don't lock up for some reason, no lights will be lit, not even the green open light.

This way sounds the absolute best. I don't think $300 sounds unfair. what about shipping costs tho? shouldn't be too much and could probably use a small flat rate on the cheap.

Shipping shouldn't be more than about $10. Don't quote me on that price just yet, I'm just ballparking some of the costs. I hope to be less than $300 shipped...

Thanks, I wanted the white because I like the contrast with the graphics but I'm not going to complain about the one I got its great. I agree that $300 sound like a good deal for the work you're putting in.

I've got some light ones in some of the white but the lower black paint looks pretty bad when you get up close. It will eventually be line-xed...

No sure how far along you are on this, but the more I look into this the easier it is sounding. The only piece I cannot get past is the "SERVE 4X4" light. Have you figured out a way to get this light NOT to come on when you by-pass everything?

I like the fact that I can lock and unlock each axle independently. I have been in a few situations where having the front locked and the rear unlocked helped out and obviously vise a versa.

Haven't put too much thought into the service 4wd light but the way I'm doing everything it shouldn't be an issue. With the T harness I can pass the required wires back through the smart bar and the truck is none the wiser. I wouldn't call this a simple mod on the wiring side. There's a lot going in to it in order to interface with the oem selector knob. Keep in mind only one wire controls all the positions of the lockers.

You also won't be able to lock only the front. What I can do for those that want it is add in a rear locker defeat switch. You would put the knob in Front/Rear and flip the switch and only the front would lock.

I like the idea of it working as much as factory as possible. I'd probably pass on the by-pass switch setup myself, but I like the idea of being able to use the factory switch.

Solid copy on all... You are going way further than I ever dreamed up, I guess if you want to do it, then you should do it right... Right? I will be one of the first on your purchase list when they're ready for order. Right now, I have two toggle switches, one going to the front and the other going to the rear. This makes it really handy, but again I went the easy way which means the Serve 4X4 light comes on.

Great work so far, cannot wait till we can use the factory switch's for when we need them vise when the PCM tells us we can use them.

Here's my ideal future state:

-hardwired lockers with OEM switch
-add an Evo manual disconnect for the Smart Bar and figure out a way to keep the Smart Bar electronics intact so that there are no Smart Bar lights flashing and the mod to hardwire the lockers to the OEM switch works.

Thoughts???

Here's my preliminary wiring diagram. This will all be contained within one black box. You'll have three T harness to plug up between the OEM harnesses and a 12V and ground connection at the battery.

I'm hoping to have all my pricing and options back this week for the connectors then I'll order and start building the first one. Once I get that working I'll tackle the Service 4WD Light, if it's even an issue. I don't think it will be though.

The smart bar wiring shouldn't be too big of an issue. I'll know more once I dig into the locker portion of my project.

I'm just glad I could help get this started. I have zero electrical ability so I'm hoping the instructions are good. I may be looking for some serious help from somebody local, unless of course for $300 you'll fly out to Montana and install it yourself. :D

LOL. This will be so easy to install even a blind caveman would be able to do it! :D

Seriously though, with what I have envisioned you'll have a relay box to mount (I'll find a good place for this) and from there you will have three T harnesses, one that goes to a connector behind the passenger side headlight, one behind the driver side headlight, and one on the inside of the passenger side frame rail. The T harness will be a few inches long, you'll unplug the factory harness and insert the T harness. All three connectors are very easy to get to and there's no possible way to plug any of the connectors into the wrong place. Then you'll have a 12V and ground connection at the battery. Everything will be perfect length and wrapped in wire loom.

And here's a revised wiring diagram. This is the wiring that will be required to make the lockers and the LED's function. There may be some additional wiring involved if the truck throws a Service 4WD light, but it will all be internal to the box. I won't know that until I tear into my truck and start testing. I'm also uncertain on how the factory has the locker sensing circuit set up. Not sure if they are using a ground signal, 12V, or 5V sensing. Whatever method they are using won't be an issue to replicate, just another thing I need to check once I get in there.

I probably could, but this is much simpler for me and it's using off the shelf parts. If I had to build custom circuit boards there would be no time to do any of this, and I doubt it would be any cheaper. It's also been a long time since I've been in school and it would take me a while to study up on everything. LOL

It's not really as bad as it looks. The two on the top left are an adjustable voltage relay and the four on the bottom are a 4 10A relay board. Then two standard relays for the locker solenoids.
