Rear Seat Power Outlet

Post by Retired BLM Rig » Tue Jul 16, 2024 1:31 am

So my truck doesn't have a power outlet in the rear seat area, but I want to be able to carry my portable fridge/freezer back there to keep food and drinks cold on roadtrips. So this is what I came up with for a mounting solution, rather than adding a new bracket or bezel.

I already have a power inverter mounted under the passenger seat, so it made sense to do the install as close as possible to those power supply wires. This picture is with the seat moved all the way forward.

The seat mounting bracket has a large flat area on it, so I decided to make use of it.

I used a 1-1/8" hole saw to make the hole and added a couple short lengths of wire to the inverter.

Now I have a power outlet in the rear seat area.

It's barely noticeable with the seat moved all the way back.

Happy modding everybody! :patriot:

That is clever and looks great!
:notworthy:
The factory Alpine sound system takes up a lot of room under my rear seat - so i just don't have much spare room there

not sure i'd recommend punching a hole of that size through the seat mount... seems like a bad thing if it were to fail.
Clean job otherwise.
