				2008 PW 285/75/17 VS 35/12.5/17

I'm currently in the debate on which set of tires to buy. I really prefer the old school tall skinny look but I'm concerned I won't have enough clearance with the 285/75 tires. Looking for some pictures of each on 3rd gen trucks to get an idea.
Thanks,
Jeff

I'm running stock height and stock PW wheels.
I tried some 305/70-17 Goodyear's that were about the same height as 285/75. 34"tall. It was probably my favorite size that I have tried, but they don't make a decent tire/brand in that size anymore. Didn't seem to have any negative other than a slight loss of acceleration, and not available in my new favorite tire.
I'm stuck on Firestone MT2's, and have run stock 285/70-17 the most miles, recently changed to 33x12.5x17 which are same 32.8" tall, but a little wider.
I tried 315/70-17 which are 34.5" tall, and didn't like them because of the rubbing and very noticeable loss of performance. I couldn't wait for them to wear out. Think you would need lower gearing to run anything taller than 35's, in my opinion.

A tuner from Hemifever does wonders. Change the tire size in the ecu, changes the shift points, also gets rid of the gas pedal delay.

I recently found a 35x10.5x17 tire that I'm going to try out. They're not too expensive and have good reviews. The Kenda Klever

Interco Super Swamper SSR has that size if you go mud bogging. Full 35.3 inches tall.
