It's purely subjective. I think the poor snow and ice performance of MT's is overstated. This winter was particularly bad in the PNW and I had no issues. In one instance I drove 700 miles in a single continuous snow storm that was said to be the worst in 40 years. All I know is a good a/t tired would hands down out perform an mt on snow covered roads.
That being said, if the toyo mt is good enough, well then its good enough
I have no problem in town. But I think I need bigger lugs and more aggressive tread for deep snow. I'm really thinking about Cooper STT Pros after seeing them in person. I think the closer alternating 3 lug center will hold enough snow to add traction while keeping the deep lugs to clear. Having worked in Zak's area I think siped aggressive AT's or hybrids is probably the best for his conditions. Portland gets ice storms that shut the city down. I've been there after the area got 1/2" of water ice, studs would have been best but that's a pretty expensive option given how limited the use would be.
