Brakes & rotors

Anyone try the Power Stop part # 220536 Heavy Duty Truck & Tow Brake Kit from Rock Auto.com ? I just did not have the money for the EBC set up this time, so thats what i went with. Should be here in a few days. $479.96 was the total for 4 slotted & drilled rotors & HD Z36 pads.

Be careful of drilled rotors. They like to crack at the holes.

I always used cross drilled slotted rotors on my HP B4C Camaro.......they would bring me to a stop from 160 mph consistently for about 3 months before they started getting cracks in them. (Sshhh)

Dimpled or smooth rotors are better on a 4x4, mud and small rocks get stuck in the holes on a drilled rotor.

Hopefully they will last until retirement & the mods begin. Honestly, I don't do a lot of off roading right now. To-from work in winter & towing the camper is about all.

Don't know if I'm running the exact same part number as that, but I've been running Power Stop zinc coated, drilled and slotted rotors and ceramic pads for 4 years and roughly 50k miles. They were a huge improvement over stock, especially running 37's and the way I drive. They are great and I've never had a single issue with them. Those that have seen my truck in action, can attest to how well they work also. I bought all 4 rotors and 8 pads on eBay (don't remember the retailer) for roughly $300. Would do it again in a heart beat.

I think you'll be very happy with them! And once you see how well they work, you'll be even happier that you didn't pay out the a$$ :cash: for them!

I have been using R1 concepts and been very pleased. http://www.r1concepts.com/ their on e-bay too.
They are a little more money but seem to be a quality kit.

I'm watching this thread so if they work out I might be able to save a little money with these, so please report your findings

Rock Auto has no kit for the 09-2011 2500 though.
So e-bay with the PowerSport line may be the next best choice for price on a 2009-2011 2500.

Installed rotors & pads today. Lots of stuff going on in my life right now, so sorry, no pics. All i can say about pads & rotors are WOW---WHAT A DIFFERENCE !!! Rotors are specific side to side. I followed the break-in procedure to the letter: 5 moderate to aggressive stops from 40 mph to 5 mph without letting the brakes cool & NOT coming to a complete stop. Then: 5 moderate stops from 25 mph to 5 mph letting the rotors cool after each brake application. Then avoid towing & hauling loads for the first 100 miles, while the pad completes the resin cure.
This trucks now stops like it should have from the factory. VERY HAPPY so far.
