AEV KATLA WHEEL
Re: AEV KATLA WHEEL
Looking good! I think you’re going to like the red letters, I’ve been running them for years on a wrangler and they’re really well suited to dirt rock and sand.

Re: AEV KATLA WHEEL
I've heard a lot of good things about the Red Letters. I ran the AT's a long time ago on a cross country trip that involved a lot of offroad time out west here and really liked them. I got into Toyo's all because of a mistake when we were going fulltime, but originally intended to get General Grabbers again for our first truck.
The General Grabber ATX's have performed really well this winter. They are going to be my winter road tire. So I'm not getting rid of my OE wheels, they're in storage now.
So looking forward to putting the X3's through the paces here in Moab in a couple of weeks.

Did you go with the 17x8 or the 17x10? I'm about to pick a set up myself and I know that they have different backspacing. With 37s, I assume the correct backspacing goes a long way to minimize rubbing.

AEV KATLA WHEEL
Looks good. Im wanting to get offset wheels that have just a tad of tire sticking out of the wheel wells, but then I dont think Ill ever be able to flex without the sound of crunching plastic and possibly metal.
Re: AEV KATLA WHEEL
Mike how are you liking the Centramatics? Getting ready for new wheels and thinking of giving them a try vs. traditional balancing.

Re: AEV KATLA WHEEL
I'm going without balancing. My wheel and tire combination weighs too much for the 17" balancers. This is the automotive equivalent of "big dick problems" so I'm going raw (for better or worse).

Re: AEV KATLA WHEEL
I know I'm a bit late to this thread, but I have nothing but good things to say about AEV and the Katla wheels.
They balance with minimal weight, and the support is outstanding. I had a set 3 years ago. There was a recall on a bad batch of wheels (which I was a part of) after I had already been driving on them for over a year. AEV paid for me to ship the wheels back and refunded every cent I spent.
Now that they have replacements, I went right back to them. The aesthetics aren't for everyone, but if you like them, they are hard to beat.
