Does the Sway Bar Disconnect ever work?

Post by FordyceCreekTrail » Tue Jul 09, 2019 6:40 pm

Or is it just a POS Ram refuses to fix? Mine has never worked. Rarely unlocks and right now its been flashing since the last trip and wont re-engage. Pretty silly to have it when I am too scared to use it knowing its unlikely to work. Front locker wont ever work either, but the bi-pass kit took care of that. Asking the dealer to look at it again this week.

Meh, my disco works fine (obviously it can't be bound up to disconnect) and so does the rear locker. Front can be a bit more finicky.

mine worked fine...albeit, if 4low and under 18MPH is fine for you...

On demand switch and air release is something i use EVERY DAY.

i disconnect once i get on the highway, 90MPH and 10 miles later i re egnage just before the exit turn ramp so i dont have to slow down.
Over 65MPH without a front swaybar and Thuren tuned Kings is a ride you dont forget(compared to any other HD)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but no one offers a bypass module to let the disco work on demand?

Evo mfg on demand air release is the only truly ON demand anytime option right now...again, right now...

I looked into the Evo after reading one of your posts awhile ago. Didn't you say that you left the OEM actuator connected though to keep from throwing errors?

I'm not opposed to routing an airline from my tank along with the other associated paraphernalia, but it'd be nice just to use the stock buttons. :D

Mine works great. Shift into 4 (high or low), press the button, light blinks... if it doesn't disengage in a second or two, a wiggle of the steering wheel to unbind things is all it takes.
Lockers are the problematic feature.

exactly lol sway bar disco isnt only usefull when rock crawling...its necessary on high grade fire roads, or any type of 18+MPH overlanding.

with the Evo air release, you do still want to keep the stock module tucked under there so you dont throw codes.
Yes, you need a switch, but plenty of places to install to make it look OEM. And, it has an audible engagement or "disengagement", which is nearly instantaneous on flat ground, and it will reengage the swaybar nearly instantaneous as long as your on flat ground when you click off.
at least you can hardwire bypass the stock locker knob!

Manual huh BLM?

Is a interface module just to complex an ask given the programming and hardware requirements? I'm assuming it is, otherwise the jeep aftermarket would have addressed it.

Standalone, electric sway bar disconnect with the flip of a switch. Currently testing the prototype on my truck. It will work on any SmartBar, PW or Jeep. Does not use the factory switch, OEM module will have to be secured to the frame, crossmember or engine compartment to retain locker function and eliminate trouble codes. Working out the details. Anybody know a good patent attorney? :patriot:

cant wait to see how you accomplish this.

My question is the motor/servo you will use to accomplish this, and if off camber engagement or disengagement will create stress on the actuator as its working against the load on the pin.
With the Air, its a solenoid that opens and closes, and the swaybar module itself is not powered.

Powerwagon crew could not be any more lucky with a team member like you
