Re: Bilstein 5100, or Fox 2.0 Shocks?
I have had 5100's on mine for 2 weeks now and am very happy with them. The ride is a touch firmer, but the truck does not wallow as much in the corners now. I went with the 5100's over the Fox's because when I am off road it is a slow crawling pace rather than the dessert runner style. For me the 5100's met my needs, without the added expense. Either way you go you will get a quality product.

Id imagine the foxes would be valved pretty close to the bilsteins. They are a stock replacement shock so id imagine thy wouldn't be anything to crazy over what you already have!

I found these on KORE's website:
Fronts: http://www.koreraceshop.com/collections ... hocks-pair
Rears: http://www.koreraceshop.com/collections ... hocks-pair
Looks like they might have a little more of a "special" valving that your "off the shelf" 5100 series. Any ideas, thoughts on these?

I had a set of Thurens Fox 2.0 on my 06 diesel, they were valved way softer than the 5100 I had previously. Rode super nice, IMHO worth the extra $$.

I'm not sure of the "factory" specs but I have Rancho 9000 shocks on mine and have not have any articulation issues and these numbers are what they are. They hit the bumps stops and have plenty of drop.Juday wrote:Anyone know the Extended and Collapsed lengths for the stock front and rear shocks on the Power Wagon?

I put bilstein 5100's on my truck last year, it's already riding like a boat! I need some good inexpensive shocks...recommendations?

The two are mutually incompatible - good shock and cheap...

Re: Bilstein 5100, or Fox 2.0 Shocks?
Purchased and installed the Bilstein 5100 series shocks over the weekend.
Front Shocks PN: 24-066464
Rear Shocks PN: 24-186636
Steering Damper PN: 33-170794
So far, I've been extremely pleased with the purchase. For the money that I spent, I think it's hard to beat these shocks. The truck doesn't bounce over everything and reverberate after hitting the bumps. The shocks soak up the small bumps extremely well and give the truck a much more controlled feeling over uneven/broken asphalt and potholes. I've noticed less body roll in the corners, too.
They might not be the best shocks out there, but I think they're much better than the Bilsteins that came on the truck from the factory. IMO, this is what should have come on the truck from the factory.

I think you made a good choice! I think what comes factory is a 4600? So 5100 should be better lol! Glad your truck rides good again man! Rock on! Time to get some flex pictures!!

Congrats bro on coming to a decision. Did you get them from Carli or Thuren or direct from Bilstein, & how much per pair? Did you change your bump stops for something that's not visco-elastic rubber?

Re: Bilstein 5100, or Fox 2.0 Shocks?
Well no wonder the truck rode like crap. I only changed the front shocks last year. The rancho 9000's make an awesome difference! I only installed the rears since I have bilstiens on the front. I run them on the hard setting on the street and soft for dirt. The old procomp shocks were toast.verdesardog wrote:I just ordered 4 rancho 9000's $404 minus $106 rebate.

Re: Bilstein 5100, or Fox 2.0 Shocks?
I purchased them off of Amazon, since one of their operations is about 10 miles from where I work. One day delivery for $6.99, you can't beat that! It was around $350, for all four shocks and the steering damper (minus tax and the small shipping fee). I didn't bother changing the bump stops out, since I didn't change anything but the shocks.adeluca73 wrote:Congrats bro on coming to a decision. No, it is a good thing or No it is a bad thing?
I would assume that they should have increased travel on the flip side.
I was wondering about the bottoming out issue. So should a longer bump stop be used?
