If you get a shock with more collapsed length, you should surely measure the minimum collapsed length needed when on you bumpstops to assure you wont be using your new shock as a bumpstop. They wont last long doing that haha.

Agreed, I am probably overthinking this. I ordered the sizes that are in the kit listed on 8Lug Truck Gears sight and that is what Juday used so I'm thinking they should be the correct size. I will be curious when I get them installed and will check it out because Curiosity killed the cat and all that......

I'm still here, just not as active as I once was in the past!

So far, I still really like the shocks, especially for the money! I've noticed the rears are a little stiffer than the stockers, but throw a few hundred pounds back there and it rides like a dream! I wouldn't hesitate to order them again, if that's what you're asking.

I haven't noticed any issues with the shocks bottoming out, but then again, I don't drive the truck like a maniac. The times I do flex the suspension, it's usually on the job site and going across tracks made by the off road haul trucks, or a dozer. I take it nice and slow off road. :)

Having had both 5100's and Fox shocks, I'd say they both are good.

But, in this case, more $$$ does get you better equipment. Fox shocks can be rebuilt for $65.00, and if desired, the valving changed too.

Be careful if you are planning to rebuild them later. As I understand it, Fox has two lines of shocks, one with aluminum tubes and one with steel tubes. The aluminum ones are not rebuildable. My take is that unless you have fairly expensive shocks on your truck, it may not be worth rebuilding them because of the time it takes to R&R shocks twice if you put on an old set while the good set is being rebuilt, or the time the truck is out of service while it sits on stands with no shocks in it. I kept my factory shocks in a box, just so I'd have something to put on the truck while my Foxes are being rebuilt, if I ever get to that point.

For what those things cost new I have no problem buying the disposable shocks ever 5 or 6 years. I just can not justify spending that much on shocks. I got my new ones delivered today. Pretty impressed, I wasn't expecting them until next week. I still have sliders to mount before I can mount the shocks. I then have oil to change, tires to rotate, and front/rear diff fluid to change. The Subaru needs the oil changed this weekend as well. The Quad needs oil changed, front/rear diff fluid changed and probably a new belt on top of that. The Durango needs oil and spark plugs changed.

Sometimes I feel like my chores at home are a full time job. :shock:

The left, front shock is a PITA to replace. Between the battery tray and master cylinder it is a very tight fit to get the tower/shock out and the new one in. Of course in the Chrysler's Engineers infinite wisdom they have damn near everything under the hood attached to the battery tray (only a little sarcastic).

Went for a drive both on pavement and dirt. I am very impressed with these shocks, big difference from the stock Bilsteins. It's a more solid feel and when turning I can feel the road/tires much more. I am curious to see how they do when I tow.

I just did the 5100 on my 2018. It’s sock height. These are the rear.

These are the fronts and they are shorter than the OEM.
I did a quick lap around in it after the swap and it actually feels more soft and a little sloshy when I shimmy the wheel. We will see if it gets better.

When I test drove after instal I wasn’t impressed with how awesome they were like a lot of other people. Seems softer and sways more when I shimmy the wheel while driving. Maybe it will get better as I go. I sure hope so.

Agree w MOPAR maniac on performance. Not sure of your truck’s set up but upgraded mine to the Bilstein 2 5100’s front & back. Noticeable improvement over the old Bilstein 4600’s (which was 2nd set @ +/- 145,000) due to budget constraints. Shop did not advise of any length differences though.
